poor man's home automation

I want my room to greet me when i walk in, play favorite music, read news from my favorite web sites...etc...I wanna live like it 2020 baby!!!!


Is there a premade solution for this (prob not)... any ghetto ideas on how to do this....i'm gonna hit up google now...

perhaps someone else has the same desire as me...
