It is not clear if the attacks are related to a similar mobbing of Ford City Mall last month.
Probably just a coincidence...

Dis-armed citizens are perfect targets....Who else wants to live in this democratic Utopia that is Chicago with these 'isolated' incidents???

What would help most? Banning flash mobs? Gangs? Teenagers? Wonder if the cops can go through their text messages to see who orchestrated it....

It's what they want in Chicago. They got exactly the government they voted for there. Voting has consequences.

Excuse me, but the teenagers didn't actually harm anyone, did they? You would seriously want to shoot a teenaged (colored) kid because you saw him running down the street?

The two things really have nothing to do with each other.

"Several teens were arrested after dozens of mob groups began attacking pedestrians on Chicago’s downtown Magnificent Mile area on Saturday night."

But that doesn't mean anyone was hurt. Being attacked has its advantages. ;)

This sort of thing has been happening on a smaller scale over the past few years. They organize on twitter or facebook then swamp an area. The police have responded by stepping up their presence along Michigan Ave a lot over the last couple years and keeping an eye on the internet for a heads up that something is coming. Stores also have more private security now too.

Looks like they responded pretty quickly if they arrested that many people.

I think that would all depend on what color we're talking about, and the time of day. Target acquisition is a critical piece of the puzzle.

Look, I've seen worse riots after college football games. Where's the panic?

From reading this article is sounds like the reporter just made a bunch of shit up to me. There's no other reason to be that fucking vague. What they hell is that article about? The language choices are weird, I'd say intentionally weird with the goal of tacitly implying things happened that didn't. And the supporting man on the street quotes come from a woman spouting a generalized "kids these days" whine combined with what already sounds like a sensationalized quote from a "community activist" (read, professional axe grinder/busybody whiner)

If I had to read between the lines (and I did, as the actual lines seem entirely lacking in actual content) I'd guess a large flash mob happened and some kids danced to close to some people and they got annoyed. The kids probably continued to be annoying and possibly some fights started. Some local police charged them with crimes on the level of petty vandalism, most of the charges will likely be thrown out or plead down in court. Then this article was written and the corpse of journalistic integrity continued to rot and roll.

If there's more going on here I couldn't get it from this article.

And I fail to see what the lack of deadly force has to do with this at all.

Edit: Is this even about flash mobs? I didn't see that mentioned in the article at all.

It's about the OP's racist attitudes.

I've seen more damage occur during college football riots. Like, cars overturned.

Woman recalls attack on L: 'I've never been scared like this'
"The woman said she was returning home with her mother Saturday night on the Red Line after a dim sum dinner when a group of girls got on the train at the Monroe station and appeared to want to pick a fight.

"This girl started blowing smoke in my face, and she flicked her cigarette ashes at me," said the woman. "I said: 'You need to put that out,' and the next thing I know there's all these girls that jumped on top of us."

They began punching her face and then went for her hair. She believes they had knives or box cutters, and padlocks possibly placed inside socks.

"I put my head down between my legs so they would stop beating me in the face, but they were trying to pull my face up and hit me more," she said. "They ripped out chunks of my hair, and I've got a black eye and bruises on my face, and all over my back and shoulder."

The woman said the attack happened between two stations while the train was moving. "There was nobody to help. There was no time, really. We were surrounded, it happened in one stop, and then they got off the next stop, at Lake," she said.

As the train stopped, the group grabbed her purse, ran off and jumped the turnstile, she said. The woman ran after them, though, and eventually got her purse back and went to the police station to press charges."

Really, they beat women up at your football games?

This seems like it might be a good way to keep corrupt, predator cops out of poor, black neighborhoods. If you organize flash mobs in the rich, mostly white shopping districts, the cops have to increase their presence in those areas and will have much less time to harass, beat, and plant drugs on people in the poor black neighborhoods.

Flash mobs are not THAT new, but they are becoming more common though.

The worst one so far was at the Wis. State fair where the black mob's intent was to beat, rob and harass the white people there [according to news reports they would walk by black people only to pounce on a white person behind him].

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-attack-white-patrons-outside-wis-state-fair/
“I had a black couple on my right side, and these black kids were running in between all the cars, and they were pounding on my doors and trying to open up doors on my car, and they didn’t do one thing to this black couple that was in this car next to us. They just kept walking right past their car. They were looking in everybody’s windshield as they were running by, seeing who was white and who was black. Guarantee it.”

All of the other flash mobs also happen in predominantly white areas, but of course the mob's are treated with kid gloves by the media as though they are simply dancing in the strreets...when infact they are assaulting people based on race.
