just braught a 6800 gt o/c (BFG) and overclocked it to ULTRA speeds, little unstable but completed a 3d mark, also benched it at stock speeds. DOOM 3 plays sweet, 16*12 2x fsaa aty ultra creamy smooth, cm rally 4 also sweet at 16*12 2*fsaa also sweet, but 3d mark 0 score appaling.
on my 9800 pro i got, at default benchmark settings, 22xx 3d marks. when i did that becnh that was before i overclocked my 3200 hammer as well, withe the 68 GT at stock speeds ( 370/1ghz on the bfg 6800GT o/c) i got 31xx 3d marks, and at ULTRA speeds it got 33xx 3d marks!! with the cpu at stock i got 28xx 3d marks.
seems to me there is something amiss somewhere, as i here a GT should get around 4500, and a ultra should hit 5k.
anybody got any thaughts.

My suggestion is to disregard the 3dmark score. If you are getting the performance and image quality you need on the games you play then that's what counts. 3dmark can be useful if you are making system tweaks and want a quick and dirty way to see if the change increased performance, but I wouldn't worry about that score.

If you want a really high 3dmark score, go into your video card settings and set everything for performance and turn off all the filtering, etc. It will look like poo but you will get a wonderful high score. Yay and who cares. The last time I messed with 3dmark was the 3dmark2001 version I think and that's all you had to do if you wanted a really inflated and meaningless score.

What drivers are you using. The 66.81's give you higher results in 05 compared to the 61.77's.

3d mark 2005 is the greatest piece of crap around!
I've got a 3.2 prescott
1 GB ram dual channel
4.10 catalyst drivers
and a x800pro modded to the xt with clock speeds at 500 core and 550 mem
my unmodded result was 3400 and my modded result is 4359!!!!!
what the f**** is wrong???? Everybody on the futuremark site with the same configuration gets at least from 5300 to 7000 and more......There must be something really wrong with the program since every game works just fine.

The Cat 4.10 betas will give you a much higher score. I get 5800 with Omega's version of them; no tweaks and high quality.
