So...I was constipated this morning, really badly. I felt really weak and cold sweating and everything, etc. Went back to the washroom later and my poop was red?! Called my mom and did some googling and it seems that my intestine or something is bleeding or like bruised or whatever? Google results also said that it was a sign of colon cancer or w/e, but I doubt it have it...

Anyways went to the doctor and he basically said that it's fine. Just drink that 8 cups of water and eat more fruits and veggies, and try to make sure that I poop daily. Afterwards, I was on my way.

What do you guys think?

Edit:

Does working out help since I'm like exercising and moving so my intestines would move or whatever? That's what my mom said o_O

If there was a large amount of stool coming out all at once, which is often the case in constipation, it could induce an anal fissure or it could have torn some of the lining of the intestine. It's not uncommon. If you really increase the amount of fiber you're taking in (veggies especially), you can fix this problem permanently.

And yes, exercise does help. However, it's no substitute for fibrous veggies. Get on that and maybe take some fiber for the next week or two. That'll give anything messed up ample time to heal and then you can just rely on diet.

EDIT: Also, if you ate beets, that'll do it.

No, if the bowel is red it indicates that there is bleeding closer to the rectum - like if you have hemorrhoids and get a bleed. If it is dark brown or black, that generally means that the bleeding is further up the GI tract, like the esophagus or small intestine.

Was their any pain during the process?

This could just be something that you ate, let's not jump to colon cancer just yet.

Stool is poop? Anyways it seems that it's going back to brown now, with some dark, black stuff stuck to it sometimes.

Ya a lot came out and I'm like eating more veggies and fruits and sweet yams lately to help. Maybe I should eat more fruits and veggies on a regular basis...

There's just your typical pain that you feel when you gotta go or when your constipated. Other than that, everything feels fine. I did eat a lot of American food when were on vacation, but the vacation was only for 5 days, so there's a limit to how much fast food I could've eaten.

Dark brown/black != bleeding.

The longer fecal matter is inside you, the harder and darker it becomes. Colon Cancer style bleeding will be a dark red while bleeding closer to the rectum usually comes out as actual blood.

Yes, stool is poop. It seems like the other stuff may be clotting or something. That's alright.

Obviously fecal matter is going to harden/darken as the colon reabsorbs water, but blood in the stool DOES also appear blackish, or a darker brown if there is bleeding "further up," as I said.

The point is it isn't always going to look like the blood we normally see if we get cut, etc.

Not always, but it can, especially on the toilet paper.
