Well, crap. I came back to my parents house tonight after moving most of my stuff into my new apartment, and found out that my computer died today. When I try to power the thing up all the fans come on, but the hard drive doesn't spin up or anything, and the machine just sits there.

I tried replacing my celermine with an old celeron 266 -- no go. Then I tried an old video card I had lying around, thinking that my tnt2 burned out--not that, either. I guess that leaves the RAM and the motherboard as the most likely culprits. I think most of the parts in the system have a 1 year warrantee, and I've had everything except the processor for about a year and one week. 🙁

I'm taking it into a computer shop tomorrow, probably. Maybe they can tell me which part is failing.

Oh, and if you're wondering why this is onlt _kinda_ off topic, that IS about 6 Mnodes/sec that I''ve lost temporarily.

i had this exact problem
turns out one of the traces on my goldfinger got scratched so the connection was lost

so i took it out and it's fine

try reseating all the cards, then redoing all the cable conncetions first

then look for any damage that the move might have caused
