So I have rather long hair, have had long hair for quite some time, about 3 years. I always keep it in a pony tail but I've recently been thinking of braiding it, simple thick 2 stranded braid. Not sure it would look good though. What do you think?

Yeah I know I'm inviting the flames
Edit: I'm not going to braid it. But I'm not changing it much either. I might trim it here or there to make the pony tail a little less messy but that's it for now. A lot of people have suggested corn rows which I think is funny, I can't imagine corn rows looking good on anyone who isn't black. Dread locks also seem common but they are too messy to me, gives one that pot smoker who hasn't bathed in a month look.
When I was thinking of braiding it I was thinking of the look of the guys in kung fu movies, an old chinese traditional style where they had a single long braid and the rest of their head was bald as in this pic. Though I was not thinking of going for the exact look, not shaving the front!
