Moore said his store is selling between two to five Vibes each month. "If the thing said Toyota on it, we'd be selling 25 to 50 a month," he said. "Unfortunately, people haven't discovered it yet."

Sad but true. The Matrix and Vibe about 80% the same.

Toyota wouldnt put out a POS like the Vibe.

Ummm, Toyota and Pontiac build the damn things :D Toyota designed the mechanicals, Pontiac designed the interiors, and each did their own styling.

"If the thing said Toyota on it, we'd be selling 25 to 50 a month,"

Probably because the people that care about resale value all bought the Toyota version.

I wish we had Fark-esque icons for use here. I so want to slap the [OBVIOUS] tag into this thread. :D:p

That thing looks almost as bad as the Aztec. The Pontiac design boys need to lay off whatever the hell they're smoking. Let's hope they don't mess up the GTO too badly.

I agree, with the body-colored cladding option and the 17" wheels, the Vibe looks better than the Matrix.

Trying to decide which one looks better is like picking between two pieces of my poo. Sure ever now and again one isn't so bad looking but its still poo :).

Even though I personally think the Vibe looks a little better than the Matrix, I would still buy the Matrix instead... just to get the resale value of Toyota.... I never had much confidence with the Pontiac's brand name anyways...

The problem is, you can't expect everyone to know that the Vibe and the Matrix are identical cars.... so when it comes time to sell the car, I would expect the Matrix would be much easier to sell (for higher value) since it has a Toyota name on it...

I don't know how it is in the States, but the Vibe GT costs around $30k CDN here before taxes, which is pretty damn expensive for what it is! You could buy a brand new 2002 Maxima for the same price! That would be a reason why it isn't selling so well.

And I'm not to impressed with the Matrix either. My friend has one, and while its a solid vechicle, the engine is a little buzzy (130hp version) and the radio looks totally out of place. Now I'm not one that cares about interiors that much, but the radio looks totally out of place from the rest of the car...it looks like the Delco units used in old Chyrslers and Chevys.

I like the Vibe better too, but...

The Vibe is between $600 and $2,500 more expensive than the Matrix equivalent.

That would motivate me to get the Matrix instead, if I was gonna get a new car. I'll probably get a Golf GTi tho.
