Exterior design
Guages sure are pretty
Nicely bolstered sport seats

Interior quality.(Ac vents look dull and generic plasticky, grey/faux aluminum accents look plastic and fake, especially around the shifter and on the steering wheel, just too much hard black plastic overall, throw in some CF or wood or aluminum or something.)
Center console mounted window switches and what looks like mirror controls

Looks great from the outside but the interior could use work

--I've never seen exciting AC vents, care to show me some.
--I honestly think they weren't trying to fake the Aluminum look. Looks like the usual grey plastic everyone else uses.
--The center console switches do look out of place

Overall for me:

Exterior

Interior

Awesome! Reminds me a lot of an Audi interior. If they could only get rid of those fake air-intakes...or at least give you the option...I'd be sold.

something i do like about the interior... there is no overall "look" to the dashboard/cd player area, so installing an aftermarket head unit wouldnt wreck anything aesthetically. not that i support bland designs, but until car manufacturers figure out how to do stereos right, i'll always and without fail be replacing my factory setup with something thats actually worth a crap.

Some of you guys are just complaing for the hell of it.

Interior

Exterior

Window switches may not be in the normal place, but it works and they aren't the only ones to do this.

Also the air vents?? wtf, they look just fine to me.

Also you got to remember this is likely a base model and also not the best pics. Wait for final judgment when there's higher quality ones.

I don't know about "exciting", but some cars that have visually interesting vents are the Mini Cooper, Ford Mustang, and Audi TT, and that's just off the top of my head. That said, those are all "sporty" cars; I wouldn't expect to see anything avant-garde in a mainstream sedan like the G8.

I wasnt talking about the air vents but the plastic surrounding them and the whole console in general. It's just bland, matte, black plastic. Way too boring.

I mean in a car in this price range(Passat, Avalon, Maxima, 300C, etc, the interior is just not up to snuff)

Notice the nice wood accents, actual shiny chrome and the lack of generic flat black plastic.

Maxima

Even the 300c which has never been praised for good interior quality looks less cheap

 I like everything but the shifter and shift gate housing. The console is on the bland side though.

The gray plastic over silver on the Maxima doesn't look any better. The silver faceplates on the console and steering wheel in the 300C are just gross and out of place - by far the ugliest thing in this thread. The G8's console certainly isn't much to shout about, but aside from being dull there isn't much to complain about either.

EDIT: And personally I hate wood accents. I'd rather have chrome, piano black or carbon fiber.

I'd put the G8 in terms of looks above the 300C or the Avalon. The wood accents look really gaudy and tacky to me.

Assuming that the seats are anything like the GTO, for those complaining about the interior...have you actually SAT in a 2004-2006 GTO before? You'd instantly know that it's one of the nicest interiors in that price range and I'd easily take the comfort and quality of the seats over some nicer looking plastic vents.

And I'm wondering how I missed this thing at the Dream Cruise. hmph.

It looks awesome, inside and out. We are talking a car with performance and handling of last gen M5, and you guys are talking about air vents. If it bothers you so much, you can always get some aftermarket trim pieces. There is absolutely nothing you can do to an Avalon or Maxima to make it V8 RWD 360hp.
Of course this car will be attacked because it's a Pontiac, it's "doesn't really need a V8", it's bad for the ice caps, it's not a Prius, only rich people should drive powerful cars, etc and so on.
