okay there's been a recent rash of ugly cars lately, none of which i'll name at the risk of becoming unpopular <coughptcruisercough>, but at least they have some degree of taste. this is just flat out **ugly**. when i picked up my car and driver and saw this hideous beast, i wanted to poke me eyes out. i had to pick up the last issue of maxim to try to balance things out, but the aztek was still ahead. i'd rather drive rice, yes, rice, than be seen in this piece... your opinions?

I have a feeling that it's going to sell well because of the ugly styling. It looks different and plenty of people are really only looking for that. If the performance is decent, it has a future. It may not have longevity, but it could have a good run of a few years.

What about the Toyota Eccho? Everytime I see that eye sore take a turn I think it's gonna flip over.

"what the hell were they thinking???? "

My guess is they weren't.

Also, two of the most repulsive cars on the road in my eyes are the Ford Focus and the Honda Civic DX or whatever that gas/electric hybrid is.

Those are two damn fugly cars.

Aztek was funded by the federal gov't to see just how ugly a frigging thing people will buy if it is marketed.

I am not as familiar as most of you are with cars, but I saw one of those Aztec's the other day, and my first thought was "who the hell authorized the design of that butt-ugly thing?" It may stand out, but didn't they say that about the Gremlin, too?

I think the "not-thinking" is the best reason for the Aztek to be on the road.

Get this, if you can stand getting close enough to look inside one, there is a grab-handle just to the right of the radio but before the glove box. It is like two feet into the car. And it is strong enough to double as a towing hitch. Throw a rope through the windows and hold on. WHY?

I know this because I was forced to work on the program. All I could say was "what the hell were they thinking?"

They are actually a kewl ride. A couple I know recently got one. It's black with really dark tinted windows and rims. It doesn't look that bad actually but I personally wouldn't get one.

Thinking behind the Aztek:

I bet you $20 that is we create a totally nasty vehicle and call it a SUV people will buy it.

cars like aztek are designed to create interest and spark in the brand name. more people will talk about it and give pontiac a wider audience. i dont think they have a long life span, just made to create brandname ya know? hehehe still ugly as heck!

The Aztec is sh!t on wheels :D We saw a red one on campus Thursday and everyone was looking at the thing in disgust. They were pointing and laughing.

And this is supposed to be their target audience :D

My dad, being the joker that he is, and i went to a pontiac dealer to get some parts for a friends car, and we just had to stop by the showroom and check out the ass-tek. As soon as he saw the ass-tek he started laughing out loud so everyone can hear him and saying how ugly it was, boy did my face turn red, but then again i just couldnt stop laughing either :D
The salemen were getting somewhat pissed, we just decided to leave laughing :)

LOL....

Pontiac wanted to make the Aztek appeal to young people. Strange thing is, the only group of people that seem to like the car are 50+ yrs old people. Seems like they're the ones that got eaten by the marketing.

College students are way too smart to fall for an Aztek... Heh heh.. For $20, I'll pick a brand new VW jetta.

High school students?? They'll choose the camaro over the Aztek. I know it. :D

I think the Aztek is ok, but I don't think I'd want to buy it. PT Cruiser is a little better, but still wouldn't wanna put down 20K on one. Echo takes the prize for ugliest car I have seen recently, though.
