Oh thank all the gods. I have to drive an Aztek for work. I've put nearly 30,000 miles on it since February when we got new ones. They "refresh" the fleet every couple of years I guess, so maybe by the end of next year I'll get something else. Maybe if I hit 60,000 miles sooner I'll get one then.
They are repulsive. You cannot see out of them no matter what direction you face (the A pillar blocks out any view of oncoming cars when you take a turn, the "spoiler" really does spoil the view, and the gigantic C pillar is just astounding). I've found that they are horrid in the snow, the back end just flies out like mad, even at all of 8 miles an hour, with the cargo space loaded up with a few hundred pounds of computer parts. The tires can't get a grip even with a light rain.
The engine is anemic in the extreme considering what an SUV is supposed to be for. My car has more horsepower and I always thought it was a little lower than I'd like. The transmission at least isn't the worst part, though it is worse than many other automatics I've used.
It's loud, and they should have done something about that when they decided the radio needed sensors that increased the volume automatically based on cabin noise.
The ride isn't too bad, although with the amount of driving I do, the seats are killing my back, and somehow are designed so that a seatrest can't even be positioned properly to support me.
And one of the oddest issues: the seatbelts are too short. I can't lean over far enough to reach something on the passenger floorboard. I can't imagine being a larger person, they must be strangled when they reach for the radio.
