PolyView V293 19" LCD Monitor w/ DVI $298 w/ FREE shipping

Picked this monitor up from Newegg. Paid for it Thursday, got it today. Price is like $298.99 (so $299) with free shipping. Received it shipped bare in it's own box (no other shipping materials). Right out the box 0 ... that's right ZERO dead pixels. Gorgeous display plus it has DVI which is great since I have had that connector on the back of my Radeon 9800 Pro and never used it. LOL. This is my first home LCD and I am VERY happy with my purchase. The only gripe I have is that the blue power light is quite bright, but no more so that the blue power light on my Logitech 5+1 speakers.

A+ Rating here.

Newegg's 8 dead pixel policy scares me. Has anyone ever had a problem with a Newegg LCD? Everyone seems to say they get theirs with no dead pixels, but I don't want to get the uncommon one with 7 dead pixels and be stuck with it.

i ordered a 17 inch lcd from newegg for my parents and it had 2-3 dead pixels, but definitely not 0 and definitely not 8. guess it varies. i wouldn't worry too much, it's still newegg so at least they have a good reputation

No dead pixels here either. Gorgeous and vibrant colors. I had to use the second brightest setting in the monitor setup. I could have hooked it up to my car and driven at night at the brightest setting. Probably for use with bright flourescent lighting. No ghosting in flix, haven't played any fps games yet. Blacks at this brightness setting are better than I had expected for an lcd. I haven't done any dve set up yet, though, or run any color patterns through.

In a previous post here (repost! ) there was a link to an overclockers.au forum where no dead pixels are the norm. Apparently the mfr has a no dead pixel policy in that part of the world and it may also apply here.

Out of all the people I have seen the most dead pixels I have noticed was one (in the reviews on Newegg.com), I feel this monitor to be a pretty safe bet for the money ... finally figured out that I would turn my brightness down using that Input/Turbo button on the screen (thanks clarkmo) ... setting it on TEXT makes it much less bright but much more usable. LOL

You can deal directly with the manufacturer. After all, they are the ones who provide the warranty.

I'm getting the hyundai because of the 8ms response time, but it's really up to what you're going to use it for. 21ms seems pretty high to me, but if in reality the difference is negligable(sp?) then saving $60 is pretty sweet.

hyundai uses that samsung panel, and can be tilted vertically and i also believe but am not totally sure that hyundai has a dead pixel policy where if even one pixel is defective they will replace the monitor, sorry i don't feel like looking it up right now.

Sounds about right, Hyundai panels are technologically superior in response time and color reproduction.

Bought one of these a few weeks ago at a computer show here for a little over $300.00. Been pretty satisfied with it. Bright, sharp screen, nice color. Blacks aren't blackest-black but still not too bad. No dead pixels, something I was worried about with the Hyundai, seems alot of people had that problem with them. Some ghosting in HL2 but again not bad. Seems reds and blacks ghost the most and only when the image is moving in a vertical direction. Plus it has DVI, going well with my 6600GT and the slim silver frame looks good next to my Lian Li case. Hey, I'm happy.
