We had a presentation by a rep. from a small polytecyhnic university (a technical college) and he tried to sell us his viewpoint that a polytechnic education is better than a regular university education, because its more practical. He also mentioned that it takes less time to complete (their college only has a total of 1 month vacation time a year) and that you can get a pretty good job when you graduate.
His presentation seemed pretty convincing, but I am personally not convinced. Of course, I'd love to be able to study for a mere 1.5years and then get a job, instead of the 5 year engineering program I am thinking of going into, but it just seems all wrong to me.
Anyone have any experiences with these matters?
