It's been a while since I had some original polo (green bottle). I saw a 4oz bottle at Wal-Marth the other day and decided I'd get some. It doesn't smell like I remember it. It doesn't seem as strong as it used to and it doesn't last near as long.

I've always purchased my cologne at major dept. stores, is there a difference between Wal-Mart Polo and dept. store Polo. Both look exactly alike, but I noticed the Wal-Mart box had a special W-mart specific sku sticker.

I can't imagine that there would be a difference and Walmart requires the manufacturer/distributor to put the SKU sticker on the package.

Awww but since it's Polo it's diluted with Perrier natural mineral water.

I figured I'd do some more research. None of this is scientific, but here it goes....

I took my wife with me for a second opinion.

1.) Sprayed left arm with Wal-mart purchased Polo ©, smelled it and had wife smell it.
2.) Traveled to Macey's / Goldsmith's (10 minutes away) and found the polo tester.
3.) Sprayed right arm with tester, smelled and had wife smell.
4.) Waited for approx 1 hour and did a re-check.
5.) 3 hour re-check.

There was a definite difference between the strength of the scent and how long it lasted. I did quiz the sales person while I was at Macey's. If what she says is true, Macey's and other high quality dept. stores are 'A' stores, J.C. Penny's and Sears are 'B' stores and Wal-mart type sores are 'D'. The cologne that goes to 'A' stores has a shelf life and gets shipped back if it doesn't sell by a certain date. What happens to it after it goes back she didn't know.

I purchased a bottle at Macey's ($8 difference between Macey's and W-mart for a 4oz bottle) and noticed the Wal-Mart purchased Polo had part of the bottom sticker on the bottle removed (what looks to be a date code on the Macey's bottle).

I have noticed a difference in the two.

any thoughts?

You know the sweat shops in which Wal-Mart employs foreign workers?

That's Wal-Mart Polo
