Diplomatically? Applying pressure on Israel to stop their vicious attacks on innocent civilians and reign in their war dogs? YES!
Militarily? Supporitng Israel with continued arms hipments or even sending torops to aid Israel? NO!

I don't know why you started this thread Doboji... I've learned long ago that you can't change antisemites... the only way to convince them is to but a bullet through the base of their brains.

Well not everyone who disagrees with Israel is an anti-semite... I think we have to be really really careful using that term, because it loses it's potency when used too freely.
 If it was just Hezbollah or those who attacked Israel who were getting rubbed out I wouldn't have any problem with what Israel was doing.Originally posted by: amish

exactly, i'm not an antisemite, but i think that israel has gone too far. i can understand 'an eye for an eye' but once they started hitting the airport and other civilian targets i believe they made a mistake.
israel is supposed to have one of the best special forces on the planet. use them against hezbollah in southern lebanon and use guided munitions against the leadership in the north. don't make the entire population pay for something they can't get rid of due to syria and iran.

Maybe the entire population needs to feel the heat before they will turn on these people. Making it easy on the population makes it easy on the terrorists to work. The population tolerates them because it doesnt directly affect them. When you start disrupting their lives maybe they will start to disrupt the terrorists lives.
Knocking out the airport was done to keep them from flying the two israeli soldiers out.

did you pay any attention to the hariri incident. the lebanese threw out anything syrian. unfortunately hezbollah is entrenched and is still well funded by the syrians. the lebanese can't seem to get rid of hezbollah since they are officially part of the government, especially in the south.
what they need to do is alienate hezbollah. make it so hard for them to operate and survive that nobody would be near them. right now they are losing the "hearts and minds" of the lebanese. without that it will be more difficult than it should be.
hezbollah are a bunch of thugs in the south that belive they are the ones in control. because of that they push people around threaten violence. i would call that affecting the lebanese directly, you?
bombing the airport is a disgrace. what would they fly the soldiers out on? does hezbollah even have an airplane? then i heard that they bombed the airport again so that hezbollah wouldn't receive weapons. syria is just on the other side of the bekka valley. why not just drive weapons over like they always have. just because the main road is down doesn't mean there isn't another way through.

Most of my friends are Jewish (I live in New York City) and a VAST majority of them disagree with much of what Israel has done. Are they anti-semites?

Not everybody has had a loved one die from a bullet to the brain shot by people who know they are right. Not everyone wants or is ready to die to the violence they contain. Not everyone knows that the enlightened soul suffers all the worlds pain in anguished silence. Not everyone will die on the cross. Not everyone knows that all that is is exactly as it has to be and that not one single thing that has ever been can ever be changed. Not everyone knows that there is only love buried deep beneath all the hate. Not everyone has a living heart that still feels. Not everyone knows that only the fool is wise.
You missing the point that by the end of WWII the civilian populations of Germany and Japan were tired of the war and their war leaders. Even that section of the population that had initially supported the government had turned against their policies. Plus the countries were broke and their spirit broken. Which is why you didn't see an after war fight. Brute force played it's part but was not the whole story.Originally posted by: Genx87
One thing about WWII that fascinates me. The lack of an after war fight by the fanatics in Japan and Germany, who are just as die hard as these guys. I have a suspicion the msg we sent before the war ended through brute force on the civilian populations helped us keep the peace during our occupations. The people turned on the fanatics to save their own ass.
