Just curious how many people just use the AT forums and not the website itself. While I like AT, I have mostly lost interest in reading articles about computer bits etc. and I haven't visited the main AT site for months. I still visit ATOT pretty much daily however.

I read both Anandtech & Dailytech. I refresh the main page at least 5-6 times a day, hoping for new Articles/News bits. Very nice guys on AT Staff...particularly Gary Key, that dude rocks.

I really enjoy the articles, the past few months have been verrrrrry slim on reading on the front page though. I wish they'd update more often.

I first came here because of the actual tech part. I was building a PC and wanted all the info i could find on the latest stuff...found some reviews on mobos and video cards and such and found it quite useful. I went to the general hardware forum and asked some questions there....people seemed nice enough and then i must have missed clicked and hit the off topic button and the rest is history.

I read every new article on the main page and every story on dailytech. Keeping up with the articles usually doesn't take me long though, so I spend the bulk of my time in the forums.

I kind of lost a bit of interest with the whole bit about "tinkering" with computers. I got to the point where I just wanted them to work well. Sometimes that takes a bit of tinkering, but I get it done right away, and then let it be for awhile.

So, I don't have much need to keep updated on hardware. In fact, when I put together my new system recently, I needed help to do so. I didn't even know what chipsets were available, what a good videocard was, nothing. If this was a few years ago, you could have told me that a TNT2 M64 was a great card, and I really wouldn't have known any better. Since I had little intention of buying a system before 2009 (college graduation for me, possibly), I had little reason to keep updated on the hardware scene. But my system was getting quirky, and finally it just froze and wouldn't POST again - bad capacitors. Abit NF7-S Rev2.0. It was a few years old, and was on quite a lot of that time, I'm surprised the problem took so long to manifest itself.
Result: I now have a nice midrange C2D system.

Am I missing sometihng here, why would people go to a website just to go to its forums and not even look at the main site? I mean this is a hardware sight, if you just want social networking go to MySpace.

If I'm gearing up for a new build or an upgrade, yeah. Otherwise, only occasionally.

Brilliant. I'm sure there are plenty of places on Myspace that you can ask questions about Inversion Tables or the frequency of the numbers 1-9 in Pi and receive cogent responses.

AT's forums are probably the biggest and best of its kind. Now if someone ONLY came to Anandtech for the Off-topic forum, then we'd have a complaint.

Initially came for the reviews and then HD started to call my name....I still read some of the articles, but spend most of my time in OT

Only when I am researching computer hardware do I venture outside of the forums. Funny enough I find myself in the software forum more and more now.

I go to other sites for computer hardware stuff. AT is good when new content does get added, but that doesn't happen that often.

I come here for forum community's wise knowledge and also their amusing asshat-ery.

I don't care for articles here. I'm not even into PCs anymore. I go to firingsquad.com for my pc/gaming reads.

I originally came here because of the main site (back when it was on geocities), and for a long time I always checked and read it. But for about the past 3-4 years I rarely look at the front page. I haven't upgraded my computer in a long long time, I'm just not into it anymore.
