I think you should add poll options for "Poor Congressional Performance," "Congressional Scandals," and "Gay Marriage."

i don't think boarder security is on anyone's list. ;) that is in the hands of the landlord.

seriously though, i'm thinking BALANCE (read there are too many of one side in control) is the major issue for me. yes i like gridlocked government, gives me more time for me.

Midterm elections are a referendum on War simple as that.

I feel sorry for republicans because I'm generally conservative..pro life..pro gun..pro low taxes but they dug thier own damn whole and now someones got to pay for it. Taxpayers will hate paying for the war but the democrats will make sure they do.:(

Wait a minute, noone is voting "Congressional Scandals"??? Someone better clue in the media!

More seriously I think I would want to change my vote from "The Economy" to "Poor Congressional Performance" -- didn't notice that choice before.

The most important issues are energy independence and rebuilding a middle class and that can best be done by getting six fingered Christians out of the Republican party.

Adding the choice for libertarian under the party affiliation option might not be a bad idea. There seems to be at least a few of us here.

Dispite war being the single determining factor for independents, who really decide elections in the first place, Bush has failed on on these and republicans will pay as a party for his mistakes:

The Economy - Median incomes are way down since bush took office.. simple supply and demand. Increase labor supply by allowing unlimited illegal labor to enter our country and even welcoming them with promises of amnesty Bush has driven the wages down.

Healthcare - more exspensive than ever which less can afford with those lower incomes.

The War On Terror - NK has nukes now, Iran soon, Iraq will be a fundi islamic emirate when it's all over. Well done! Oh and AQ and osama has sancutary in Waristan Pakistan.

Border Security - Borders are wide open, Bush loves cheap labor!

National Security - We allowed more Suadis, and most of 911 attackers were Suadi in USA than every before last year actually increasing quotas. Bush clings to his "religion of peace" line to this day. Good Dhimmi he is. National treausry is drained so is our military.

Education - wrost SAT scores in 25 years last year.

In sum I don't see how anyone could say Bush is a conservative and that's whats killing him too. That whole family is not conservative. Consevatives were tradionally islolationists, bush even talked isolation and no nation building in his advertising campain for election 2000. Consevatives don't have open hostility for the consititution but preserve it. Conservatives don't rack up 500Billion deficits or leave borders wide open.

I voted border security.

I don't think either party has any good ideas about Iraq.

I don't think the government affects th eeconomy as much as they think. About all they can do is screw it up.

Don't see a whole lot changing on the war on terror, healthcare, education, etc either way.

But here in Western NC both candidates claim identical views on the issues. It's just that one is a Dem, the other a Repub.

So what am I really voting for? Hastert v. Pelosi et al?

it's party affiliation for me, actually, despite being unaffiliated... I just want a return to the legislative and executive branches being controlled by different parties, forcing them to compromise on issues instead of the president simply having a rubber stamp congress.

I voted for national security under which border security is included. This country is vulnerable to a real attack and has no way to protect the citizenry should it happen. No civil defense preparedness and the overwhelming majority are clueless to fend for themselves should it happen. Just look at NO after Katrina if you don't believe that.

I'm voting Democrat to end the rubber-stamping of the administration agenda that both houses have been guilty for almost 6 years now.

I don't trust the Dems any more than the bootlicker Republicans in power now, but dividing control again would at least bring back some checks and balances.

Well the first bill that will get rubber stamped in Kennedys anmesty bill for so-called 12 million illegals (its really more like 30 million) where house Republicans were the only thing stopping it. Then you'll most likly have an Iran bombing campain wholy supported by Dems. Hillary is more hawkish than Bush in this subject. Really nothing will change. Bush is RINO in the first place which makes it sure nothing much will change.

How about establishing term limits to get rid of the people in Washington that have been there forever. I am also for term limits for judges. People that work too long in washington become too out of touch with the average joe on the street.

I hate it when liberals on this forum vote that they are "independent" when in fact they vote for Democrats 100% of the time.

Could be conservatives trying to make it look like the forum is more liberal than it is...

Issue? The war. Period.

And THATS why the repubs are terrified to death!!!
They know, even GW knows by his latest flip flops on "terminology", that the country has long bailed on going along with this endless ongoing pointless war.

Guess THE PEOPLE really DO run the country, regardless.

But I'm concerned on how many voters think these new debolt voting machines will rig the election. On C-spam, every other caller brought up the issue they thought these machines will be rigged, and were rigged back in 2000 and 2004. Every other caller.
