Poll

Hehe, this forum is biased. And this coming from a Bush-whacking liberal.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, the economy is in a major rut right now.

Yes, it is biased.

And on the second statement, you're just flat out wrong.

"Do you approve of the teired internet proposed by the telecoms?"

What do you mean by this? We've had a tiered internet for decades. What is it that is currently being proposed that makes it more 'tiered' than previously?

I guess I did exaggerate a bit..what I meant is that the economy is heading toward a rut. It's not going to implode for a while, IMO, but I don't think it can last if the gap between the middle and upper-classes keep growing.

Oh look, here come the Democrats with their solutions. Yipee.

I am not surprised to see the true believers on this forum. When I say the true believers I mean the Democrats. Not to say the Republicans aren't true believers, but since they get outnumbered vastly here, they don't count much.

Yes, I am a Democrat supporter myself.

06 is the year!

a poll is not a poll if its one sided.

also in these forums its a forgone conclusion what the out come of any poll that is political will be...

Its all a waste of good space.

have fun!!

It's lasted 40+ years. Middle Class people aren't getting poorer, they're making more money. Let's say someone makes $10,000,000 a year, and the next year their income is $11,000,000. Another person makes $60,000 and their income goes up to $66,000. The rich person made the same amount more as a percentage of their income, 10% more than the year before, but the "gap" gets bigger. That's why there is, and always will be, a growing gap between the rich and poor... Personally, I believe wealth is created and can't be hoarded by one person, or a group of people, so the gap doesn't bother me all that much, although I'd rather see it a bit more evenly spread out. However, we live in a Capitalist society. Be thankful you don't live in a communist country where everyone can be equally miserable and poor.

No, he's not. He's just reading the facts as he sees them; you and I do the same. I can respect his reasoning, but coming from a very middle-class family, don't agree with it. Of course, we're only one example of a very large population, but from others I know it would appear to be the same. Especially with gas prices so hight right now.

Ok. Prove to me the economy is in a rut when our unemployment is 4.7%, at a 5 year low, inflation is under control, jobs are being created in the hundreds of thousands each month, and our economy grew the most in the dollar terms last year of ANY country.

Unemployment is low right now, very true. And the average wage is ~$16, not bad at all. Except that a large reason for that is the people with 5+ figure jobs. Last time I checked the minimum wage was somewhere around $7 nationally, and at about $5 here in WA. Not that high, especially if you're supporting a family. And you also have to consider that in '04 ~13% of the population lives at or below the poverty level, or approximately 37 million people. Link

No matter how great the econamy is or has been historically the people at the bottom of the wage earning ladder, or those without a job for whatever reason, ALWAYS think it is bad. It is all a matter of perspective. Everyone I know is doing well and has had no problems finding jobs in the last 5 years, or any problems changing jobs for more money/benefits if they so chose. I am talking about young people just out of college or who only have a few years of experience and older more experinced people. Everyone I know with a small business is doing very well. Basically, everyone I know who puts effort into their lives and makes the changes necessary to meet their goals is doing well, and has for the last 5 years too. It doesn't matter what the economy is doing if you understand how to adapt to changes. There is an opportunity in even the worst of disasters. It is the people sitting around waiting for their lives to improve that never get anywhere.
