jeep is an old brand that was originally on its own and then bought by chrysler in the late 70s or early 80s (something like that).

and the rx-7 rocks! just really expensive to fix since no one knows how to work on that motor.

It's all the same company, but all the good ideas get the Ford name. I'm a Chevy guy myself, so I'll steer clear of that one. Actually my favorite or the old school MOPAR's, like late 60's early 70's Cudas, Roadrunners, and challengers. I drive Toyotas though, and they are the most practical for me, so that's what I voted for.

This information I already know. 🙂 I used to call myself a Chevy boy too until the day I realized that the only real Chevy that I like is the '68 Camero SuperSport 😀

You can't leave out the Corvette...not to Mention the Chevelles, and even some Trans Ams. Good cars.

I added Mitsubishi, anything else? I don't want to conglamorate everything into Ford if it owns merely a percentage... Like a Volvo is too far a stretch from a Ford. (they're reliable after all) 😉

As long as you're talking about the older cars, then I guess they're okay. The '68 'Vette is a beauty. Chevelles look good, but I don't care for them too much. Trans Ams are for white trash that live in those trailers that look like baked potatos still wrapped in tin foil 😀

That's what I hear about the RX-7. Rotary engine = breaks a lot = $$$ to fix.

Anyone remember the Jeep Willy?

it doesn't break a lot... just when it does its more. in fact... they should be inherently more reliable... of course not as much research has gone into them...

A lot of RX-7s died early due to improper tuning. IIRC, the most common cause of failure was FUBARed apex seals.

"MacLaren" is spelled McLaren, and since the F1, they haven't produced a street-legal car. I'd take them off the list and replace them with Lotus.

Also, add "MINI" and "Rolls Royce" next to BMW.

Edit: Mazda is part of Ford...

Edit: Plymouth no longer exists...

As for my favorites:

1) BMW
2) Toyota / Lexus
3) FIAT / Ferrari
4) VW...

the willy's cj-5 was the first jeep, the classic wwii one. no one is quite sure of the etymology of jeep, its suspected go have come from pronouncing the first letters in general purpose, or gp.

Actually

Mercedes owns Chrysler and co not the other way around.

also, i believe ford has more than 50% share of mazda. i would say mazda belongs w/ ford here.

Chevy 😱 / Pontiac 😕 / GMC 🙂 / Saturn
rolleye.gif
/ Buick :disgust: / Cadillac 😎 / Oldsmobile 😀 / Hummer :Q / Saab 😉 / Opel ?

If I learned anything from reading this whole thread, it's how difficult it is to to put all the worlds cars into such constraining categories based on parent companies, mergers, acquisitions, percentage ownership and controlling interest.

P.S. - Where is Lada?

🙂
