LOL. So, someone besides me has a bunch of spare desktop gaming-esque rigs. Yours are nicer, I'm sure. Mine are mostly Haswell Celerons, Haswell G3258, Skylake G4400, and a couple of Q9300.

Ya I have 3 6-core desktops, and a SB i7 Sager laptop

N3700 as my laptop (which is more than potent enough for what I do when I am not at my desk)

4690k hooked up to the projector in the basement with a geforce 960.
2400 hooked up to eyefinity setup in the home office with a radeon 290.

Not sure which one counts as "primary" since the 2400 has more powerful GPU but the 4690k is obviously the faster CPU.

Heh, kinda. They're extra workstations in different parts of the house / locations (eg. folks').
All have SSDs, 16GB RAM, sufficiently beefy PSUs (600W+), but only have older vid cards in them (6950s, R9 270Xs).

They'll kinda play most titles at 1080p just fine, but I can always just toss in a 290X from my main. No need to even switch out drivers!

It's actually nice to have two posters who own 6950x rigs to give input. Some posts in other threads are so caustic they would make one hesitate to admit they even own a 6950x.

AdamK47 has been very helpful to me in the past concerning cpu selection AND monitor selection. He always tries to stay up with the latest Intel consumer cpu and gives great insight for those of us interested in it.

my 3970x was at 5 GHz, but there is no point to overclock it, it was on a 7970ghz gaming pc.
no gains

now i have all at def, i m going to use this pc for a lot of time and when 3970x will be not enough for gaming, then i m going to oc it back to 5ghz
(default is 4ghz on this board)

3930K@4.6 - This will probably be replaced with Kaby Lake or Zen maybe, I regret not buying another 6700K to do it when I bought the first one. It's actually my power hog, heats up the room something fierce with SLI 780 Classifieds when my boy is playing.
6700K@4.6? - Once I get a dGPU for it I may bump it up higher, settled on 4.6 for now as it needs no additional voltage there.
7850K@Stock now that it's doing WHS duty, used to run it at 4.5Ghz.
