Oh, okay, cool. Actually, I'm a transhumanist. I think that ppl should be allowed, encouraged even, to do anything that improves their minds and bodies, even if it's simply cosmetic.

Of course, I still won't be getting a tatoo any time soon. 🙂
 
yes, i have one - of an ik onkar meaning god is one (im sikh btw). its on my left shoulder blade. i have absolutely no regrets. i got it when i was a senior in college (just graduated).

Explain to me how you come to the conclusion that a girl is a whore because she has tattoos or piercings?

Just a broad generalization of the people i've met. The women who have tattoos and piercings generally have low self-esteem, and don't amount to much of anything, which in turn leads them to sexual promiscuity.

Thats odd, my girlfriend has one on her lower back. She got it right about 2 months before we got together, and she was a virgin (up until about 4 months into our relationship). She doesn't have low self esteem, and her college tuition is nearly all paid for by academic scholarships. You obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

I dont get a lot of compliments because no one has any idea what it is, but I love it. Got it a few months ago as a gift from a friend. The design was done by another friend of mine who made it for a Drum n Bass forum (type of techno). Was 18 when I got it. Don't regret it, and I doubt I will because if I ever decide i dont like it anymore, it still represents the person I was when I was young, and reminds me of all the insanity (partying hard every weekend, all weekend for 2 years) of being a music-loving teenager. Sure I may not like it later on, but its who I was, and that doesnt change.

And you obviously can't read. I don't think i've met your girlfriend. I don't think they are bad or anything, but its my own personal choice not to date women that have a bunch. One isn't too bad, depending on the placement. (lower back, ankle). I also agree with many of the posts on here, I get tired of seeing the same old butterfly, or the barbwire around the arm. If tattoos are about self-expression and creativity, why do people get those tattoos?

Maybe because they like them?

I don't buy into all that self-expression and creativity crap. Tattoos are about doodling on yourself. I have 4, and I plan on getting more. None of them hold any special meaning to me, they're just permanent fashion accessories. I don't need to feel like they 'define who I am'. I like my body more with them there, and thats all that matters. Maybe those people with the butterflies and barbed wire feel the same way. Who are you to call them a whore or stupid because they feel that way?
 
I've got a celtic knot between my shoulder blades. It's the more common knot that usually accompanies a stag on the Scott family clan's crest or shield. The next tattoo that i get will be a stag and it'll go right below the knot , but I just need to decide on the design I want the stag to be.

because i wanted barbed wire around my ankle. simple as that. it's what i wanted and what i got. the next tat i get will be something i draw up myself, and be more personal. at the time tho i wanted barbed wire. why? i have my own reasons, but i like the way it looks.
 
20 right now and no tatoo. I've always thought about getting one since I was 18 but never saved up for one or really thought about what to get and still don't. 😛

Got a buddy that must be around his mid 40's now and had tribal tatoos all over his lower body. If he was completely naked and far off it would look like he was wearing black shorts. Cool as hell. I wouldn't do it myself but really was awed by it. He wasn't a freak or anything either. Only tatoo on his body also. Dressed up you would never think he had tatoos but once he dropped his undies, "You were like WTF!"

Nope, unless I had some super-extraordinary reason for one, like being in a huge battle (say Iwo Jima like), there's no reason to get one.

I think they look incredibly stupid.
 
i'll get a tattoo eventually... not sure what kind of design i want. something small for sure! my bf has a jaguar (sp?) on his right arm. i dont have any pics of it. and by the time i get one - this thread will be dead!

Got it when I was 31yrs old. (1994) I am only sorry about two things
1) I did not get it sooner
2) I got it on my right shoulder blade and not somewhere I can see it every day.

The butterfly I got in 1998, I soon after decided that I didnt like it all by itself because it looked too plain. So in 1999 I went and had the flower put under it.

Edit: And no i dont regret it, I dont even realise its there. And my socks cover it if need be.
