Yes, it does. Yet the money keeps us deep in sh!t.

True. One question: Did you want to become a CPA, or was it pretty much what you could do after you graduated with an accounting degree? My best friends' girlfriend just graduated as an accountant, and she's got a job with one of the Big 4 (is that what it is?) and I'm curious if there's much else she could do. Thanks

Which is technically not a raise because of inflation. It just keeps you on par

Yea Big Four = Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, KPMG

If you are an accounting major, you can work for a public accounting firm (like the Big Four, that is if you want to pursue accounting and a CPA license) or work for a private company. Most go for public accounting because that's where the *easy* money is. However, with an accounting degree I suppose one can get a job in entry-level management, corporate finance, investment banking, other finance, etc.

Did I want to become a CPA? No, I wanted to go into corporate finance, but I quickly found out it is extremely hard to enter the field without having experience in public accounting, investment banking, or have an MBA or be an undergrad from an IVY and be a superstar, or daddy hooks you up. I actually have a BA in Economics, with a minor in Accounting. I think with 3-5 years public accounting experience, you can get any job in the financial field.
