yes this is a married man starting a YAGT but I'd like your opinion anyway...

Tonight we're celebrating 4 birthdays at 1 dinner since they're so close to each other. My wife is one of them. My plan was to get her a single rose so as to not show up the other birthday people... but I know she is of the... "the more the better" with flowers mentality.

What would you do...
1) fvck everyone else, just get her the dozen (keep in mind we're going to a big restaurant in the city)...
2) single rose, then more later
3) single rose

women like to show off to their friends...and a dozen roses is sure to make at least one jealous...and she'll love it

Single rose for the restaurant, with 11 more waiting for her on her pillow when she gets home...

1 vs. 12 is not always about money

a dozen is hard to handle at a restaurant....PLUS, how will you keep them alive???? Unless they have those water tube things at the stem..

i'd get a dozen but i wouldn't have them at the restaurant. just at home. but, i'm not a very big fan of public cheesiness. YMMV. :)

Lola

does she really like roses? can you get her a hardier flower that can last and then you can get a whole bouquet?
I personally would love a nice bouquet of flowers but it does not have to be huge.
I voted for the whole dozen, but i would only do it if you are not really going anywhere else since flowers are not something easy to carry.

That's my deal also (hence the reason for the thread in the first place). When I send her roses at her office, I'm not there so I don't care.

WHy does everyone buy roses? Roses are so overrated and overpriced it's unvbelievable. I would never get my wife roses because she'd think I was so unimaginative I just had to get what every other man in the world gets his wife.

My wife far prefers a big bouquet of really colorful flowers from the local Wildflower floral place. $20 gets me a Huge bouquet.

Are the other people at the dinner getting gifts or is it just dinner and they do gifts at home? A rose isn't really a gift either since you can't do anything with it...

i somewhat agree with you FrankyJunior but sometimes, women like those traditional gifts. i'm all for the bouquet of mixed flowers too though. they're usually quite a bit cheaper, as you said, and have basically the same effect. i think above all, to let them know you are / were thinking about them is always the #1 benefit of roses / flowers.

you would think it's "unimaginative" and I agree also... but it's evidently still desired by women everywhere. You get what they want, not what you want.
