I'd rather have a Viper than a Modena. 95% of the performance (just look how well the Viper does in motorsports) at a 50% of the price (something like that anyway). And I can expect far better reliability in the Viper than in the Modena.

1. What makes you think the Viper is more reliable than the Modena?

2. Price was never mentioned mAdD INDIAN

well suppose they're equally reliable.. thier is a dodge dealership in every town that can service a viper... Do you have any idea how far you'll have to go and how much you'll have to pay to get your modena serviced?!

Ferraris are NOTORIOUS for sh!tty reliability. It's part of the deal.

Comparing the Viper with the Modena is kinda pointless, they aren't really in the same class. The Viper outperforms the Modena, but the Modena is 50% more expensive. Two different cars for two different buyers.

Of course I would take the Modena over the Viper, but if I wanted to purchase a brutal, barely street legal, 500 HP kick in the ass... the Viper can't be beat.

Since the car in question is actually a 575, the question is completely pointless (which is why I stuck to the 360).

Where are you buying your 360's?

MSRP
Viper: $84,000
Modena Coupe Manual: $149,710
Modena Coupe F1 Style: $159,940
Modena Spider Manual: $171,836
Modena Spider F1 Style: $182,137

The car I'd buy would depend on how I planned on using it. For balls-to-the-wall performance around a road course or dragstrip, I'd pick the Viper.

Um, Will Smith's car is a 575 Maranello.. I dunno how you could mix them up... the 360 sucks, it's ugly compared to the 355 of last generation....

the 575 is personally my FAVORITE Ferrari.. absolutely gorgeous!

Viper SRT > 360 Modena

355 > 360 Modena

575 Maranello > Viper SRT

I'd take the Maranello over practically anything. the 360 on the other hand.. not a fan really.. I like the 355 better... :D

How can you compare a 575 to a Viper? The 360 and the Viper are at least a somewhat plausible comparison, but a 575?

who said i was comparing? I didn't start the thread...

they are more comparable... have similar horsepower, and are both front engine, rear drive...why are they NOT comparable? the 360 Modena is more comparable to an NSX...

or maybe i don't understand your question.

You said 575 > Viper, but they are designed for totally different things.

The Viper & the Modena are at least reasonably comparable in purpose.

Take a look at this:

575M

Curb weight: 3815
Wheelbase: 98.4
Length: 179.1
Width: 76.2
Height: 50.3

360 Modena

Curb weight: 3197
Wheelbase: 102.3
Length: 176.3
Width: 75.6
Height: 47.7

Viper SRT/10

Curb weight: 3357
Wheelbase: 98.8
Length: 175.6
Width: 75.2
Height: 47.6

575 is much more touring car than racer.

It's also twice the cost of the Modena, & nearly triple the cost of the Viper.

the hell are you talking about?
the 355 is the predecessor to the 360...
the viper is being compared in the thread... i didn't start the comparison...
the modena is mid engine rear drive much like the NSX.. they are comparable simply because of their setup... much like the 575 is a front engine rear drive classic style like the viper

all comparisons make perfectly good sense... move along now you dumbass.

Ferraris are NOTORIOUS for their reliability. You do realize that they only have a 1-year warranty right?? They often overheat, need engine overhaul every 20k miles or so, have malfunction water pumps/oil pumps/etc.., and the list goes on. You should read the online journals of Ferrari owners, its quite interesting. I'd never want to own a new Ferrari past its warranty...I'd love to drive one though.

Price is always a factor..regardless of any other criteria.

In stock form I still pick the Modena over the 355. The driving dynamics, performance, and design of the 360 are evolutionary and progressive over the 355. It's a subtle change, but I think it carries a more modern interpretation of the exotic car look and style that brings it forward into the new millennium.

Also, the NSX has never been competitive in the exotic car market for the last few years. Its simply too old, too slow, and too expensive for most of its competition (in which in todays market may compromise the Z06, 911, etc.). Being mid-engined and rear wheel drive has no direct correlation in performance nor targeted demographics. While there may be cross-shoppers of ferraris and NSXs, they are most assuredly quite few.

That said, my personal preference is still in twin turbo vipers. Though i have seen a twin-turbo ferrari f50 thats fairly interesting.

Anyways, comparing a Viper to a Modena isn't a good comparison. It's not really just all about performance. It's about prestige and heritage.

You wouldn?t compare a Q45 to a Rolls Royce? Sure the Q45 can perform the same as the Rolls, but the Rolls is in a totally different league.

I would easily take the 360 Modena (especially the Spyder) over the Viper, personally.

I'd take the modena any day. Of course I would have to move, because it would be stolen within a week. :D
