I already own a GC, so if I were to buy a new console it would be a PS2. The RPG's call to me. 😛

Like what FF X, Kingdom Hearts, Suidoken III? All systems need more traditional rpgs its a dying breed.

dont forget wild arms 3, XenoSaga, Dark Chronicle , FFXI, & Unlimited Saga, Dark Cloud 2 (supposed to be much better than the first)

I traded my PS2 in last week. There simply aren't enough good games coming out/out at the moment that made me want to keep it.

I'm already playing Moto GP in the Xbox Live Beta. It seriously blows the living crap out of anything the PS2 online has to offer. What will draw people to games like Unreal Championship and Ghost Recon is the fact that they won't have to have a $2000 machine to play it. The simple fact is that Live is going to bring online gaming to the masses in ways that the PS2 can't even think about. Its simply too puny of a system to handle it.

If you want to sit by yourself and play Kingdom Hearts or Suikoden III, have fun with it. Once the masses get a taste of Xbox Live, it will all be over. The only reason to own a PS2 at that point will be for GTA: Vice (which sucks IMO).

And as for the PS2 controller being superior... they are the cheapest pieces of crap I've used in a long time. I've broken 3 of them simply by hitting them on the floor once. All of my Xbox Controllers are tough as hell even if they get tossed across the room. And while we're on the subject of controllers, its nice to have a long cord for a change. I can sit all the way back on my couch and use my Xbox while I would have had to drag my PS2 half way across the room.

As for support, there will be over 50 Live titles by the end of next year. Xbox already is and will be King of Deathmatch. Until MS can pursuade more developers, RPGs will be rare among the Xbox list. Hopefully more developers will sign on.

RPG's aren't there much for the gameplay but rather the story. The gameplay just doesn't have to be boring and annoying. THey might not be the greatest, but heck whats RPG's are out there for the GC or and X-Box? 😛

PS2 For Me.... Nothing on XBox really catches my attention just yet, only game that interest me is Jet Set Radio Future... Once something good comes out on Xbox that is a must have i'll buy one.

Althoguh Radeon argues otherwise I think that my PS2 dualshock 2's blow the be-jumpin-jesus out of those mammoth plastic hulks we know as the Xbox controller. It's a heaving behemoth of poorly shaped plastic. dualshock 4EVA!

If I had to buy a new console now I'd buy an Xbox. I have a PS2 and although it's got some good games, I'd just be so much more attracted to the power of the XBox, plus its graphics capabilities are clearly better. The PS2 has some KILLER titles like grand theft auto 3 (haven't played GTA: vice city yet), but its online capabilities really are sad at best. I don't even know anybody who plays it online. Once Xbox live is out in full force (at a mere $50/year if you buy the kit now, plus your high speed internet you're already paying for), it's going to turn the XBox into a real beauty.

Truth be told I've never played the xbox except for some lameass game in Target I spent about 90 seconds on so take the above what its worth, but I'd still buy an Xbox now if I was going to buy a new console. The Ps2 NOW has more support but the Xbox IS a better system. Faster with more power, hardrive included, etc.

This basically sums up my thoughts. I love my Xbox and there are some killer titles out now and plenty coming. I can't wait to play NHL2k3 or MechAssault online. Splinter Cell also looks awesome.

I think people forget that the only reason they like the PS2 Dualshock is that they've been playing with it for 7 years already. And if you haven't spent some quality time with a Controller S for Xbox, then you really should. Its a great controller. Both Xbox controllers are similar in design to the Dreamcast controller which is still the best controller ever made for a console.

I'm glad Live will be broadband only. Its simply one less thing to have to mess with. MS is only targeting the hardcore gamers anyways, its just a plus if a lot of people like what they have to offer. The funniest part of the PS2 network setup is that for all the good games, you have to have a broadband connection anyways. Just look at SOCOM. It really doesn't help that there are only 4 games to play on PS2 online...

One of the things that really turned me off to the xbox was the controller but I haven't gotten a chance to try out the Controller S yet, it could change my mind about the system.

Gamecube controller is still the best IMO.

I love my Xbox, but the one thing that sucks is they don't have a wireless controller. I just got back from my brother's house this weekend and he has 2 wireless controllers for his Gamecube, and they rock!

I will continue to stick w/ PS2 and PC.

MechAssault and Live blows anything PS2 has out of the water.

only if you like the whole mechwarrior thing, which to your dismay, many people don't.

There are a lot of people who just won't buy the Xbox because they don't like MS for some unknown reason.

"unknown" reason??? whether you agree with it or not, people have had valid reasons for not liking microsoft. no need to bash them.

What will draw people to games like Unreal Championship and Ghost Recon is the fact that they won't have to have a $2000 machine to play it.

hmm...my $600 rig plays UT 2003 fine...

I've broken 3 of them simply by hitting them on the floor once.

here's an idea...try controlling your anger because IT'S JUST A GAME! You blame a controller for being crap when you are using it for something it was not designed to be used for.

The only reason to own a PS2 at that point will be for GTA: Vice (which sucks IMO).

yet the masses you mentioned earlier made that game one of the best selling of all time.

there is no point in trying to argue one way or the other. people are going to like what they want. there is no point in bashing them because of it. and i still say FPS games need to stay on PC.

mechassault!=mechwarrior. it is a battletech game but its much more action than sim. i don't think theres even an in-cockpit view.

as for broadband... xbox live might be the killer app for that.

It's comments like this that tell me Xbox is never going to do that well. These so-called mammoth plastic hulks are not even made anymore. The new standard controller is the S controller, the same one they have in Japan.

Not necessaryly this poster but other posts like this tell me that the poster knows nothing about the Xbox in the last several months and when they say the Xbox has no good games, I am supposed to believe they know what they are talking about? For God's sakes, at least rent an Xbox and play a few top-rated games before arguing one way or the other. As I have thought from day one, most people who say that there are no good games on the Xbox have never even played an Xbox much less can name five exclusive Xbox games (good or bad). This guy at least clearly admits that he has never played the Xbox but most don't and most readers do not know the logic behind the post and then wind up going around and saying the same. So for all you other guys who forget to leave out that you have never played Xbox out of your "there are no good games on the Xbox" comments, start remembering to post it because it says that you are not a reliable source.

Funny. I remember when the Xbox first came out you were bashing the Xbox controller.

There is no incockpit view. Yeah, MA is different than Mechwarrior so even if you don't like MW, you may like MA because it appeals to more people.

are all the systems $150 nowadays?
The Xbox comes with two games though at $200.

The X-Box has been better than the PS2 since the day it came out.

X-Box Live is just a nice little perk.

Oh yeah, Mech Assault comes out tomorrow.
