it gets worse everday. yesterday i was stuck for about 10 minutes behind 2 cars traveling side by side on a 4 lane highway, both going the same speed so that no one could pass. they were both on cell phones. god damn.:thumbsdown:

Your poll is absurd. Just because someone may oppose a ban does not mean they "do it everyday" or even at all.

I wish there was a law that if you HIT a car that's operator is talking on a cellphone at the time, you are not held responsible. You wouldn't believe how many time these morons almost got hit by me because they stop in the middle of an intersection or brake in the middle of a turn for no apparent reason.

I don't see it as that big of a problem. Sure, I've been held up by people talking on the cell phone, but they are always going the speed limit, therefore I cannot bitch. IMO, people who complain about others on cell phones while driving most likely have road rage issues anyway.

A couple weeks ago I was at a stoplight with one car in front of me. The driver was on his cellphone. We still had a red light when the left turn lane received a green arrow. D-bag in front of me just sees green and takes off. All the cars turning in front of us had to hit their brakes almost causing a multiple vehicle accident thanks to this clown and his oh so important conversation.

IMO, at least require people to use hands-free.

There should be a test to see whether or not you can talk and drive at the same time. If you can't pass it, no celly for you.

Just because some people can't drive and talk at the same time doesn't mean my right should be taken away.

Now a ban on cell phones in movie theaters I'd support, but never for in my OWN car.

Maybe we should ban in car conversations or tending to the yelling kids in the back seat or changing the radio station while the car is in motion?

Maybe we should just by default take away all rights since someone some where can't handle them properly??

It's gotten to the point where you can spot someone a mile away, who is driving while yappin'. I'd love to see a full-on ban on all conversations but would settle for hand-held only. Based on what I see every day during my commutes, I'd almost rather share the road with a drunk driver. At least they tend to pay more attention to what the hell they're doing.

Only if they ban everything else that you can do while driving. Smoking, eating, talking to passengers in the car, breathing, etc. All of these can be distracting.

What "rights" are you talking about? Please link to the text in the constition which states that it's your "right" to talk on a cell phone while driving?

I'd support such a ban in a HEARTBEAT, as well as bans on old people driving. 99.9% of my near-collisions have been with either blind old people or people on cell phones.
