in NJ our prices are consistently lower than our neighboring states, PA, NY, CT. mb DE is lower, but who wants to live in DE. 😉
anyway, our prices are consistently lower and yet by law we cannot pump our own gas. i don't complain a bit.

Around here, the attendants carry a big wallet of change with them, so if you need change, they just hand it to you.Originally posted by: rh71
If the attendant has to go back into his booth and complete the payment, I'd rather go to one that I can do it myself anbd pay at the pump. The attendants take forever.Who doesen't do this?Originally posted by: Triumph
Pump it myself, because every full service I've ever been to, they keep pumping like 5 times after the auto shutoff engages.
I've never seen anybody take it out the first time it auto shuts off, self serve or not.
The point is to bring it up to an even number.
Huh. That wouldn't ever happen around here. I take it this happens at self-service stations? 😛Originally posted by: Asharus

People like you that pay w/ cash should die. I hate it when I'm waiting on line at BJ's Gas, the person finishes up, then goes back into their car to grab their purse, and walk all the way up to the booth to pay. ARRRGH!

As long as we're generalizing, who pays cash for gasoline anymore?

It's true that you should leave room in your tank for expansion, but not because of the bolded. It's a vapor collection system, it's designed to handle.. evaporated gasoline. Maybe it's just a poor explaintion. You need extra room in your gas tank to allow the gasoline to expand. If you top off your tank, the extra gas may evaporate into your vehicle?s vapor collection system. That system may become fouled and will not work properly causing your vehicle to run poorly and have high gas emissions.

I'd rather have someone else do it for me.

Living in Oregon, how often do you actually see people use self serve gas pumps?I've never seen anybody take it out the first time it auto shuts off, self serve or not.
We all have these interesting things called "Credit cards". You swipe them through the gas pump, and they deduct money from your account. Doesn't matter if it's an even number because you don't need to get change. The point is to bring it up to an even number.
