personally, I bet on red but rarely play the game rather than the occasional quarter on a single number. When it hits, it's nice.

But thank you for providing the payout/odds. My point was how many non red/black numbers there were depending on the table. I don't play the game much though. I only do it as a "hey, just throw a green down on a number to see what happens", but there have been competitions where I went staight to roulette/blackjack and did quite well.
