That's what the fight is all about. Marriage has always been a sacred word - a union between two people. Why must it be man and woman?

Would you accept gay marriages the same way as heterosexual marriages?
Would I accept them the same way? No.

Would I accept them in general?
I am working very hard to overcome my biases and prejudices.
It's not easy for an old fart to change his ways quickly, but hopefully newer generations will be more tolerant of other religions, nationalities and lifestyles.

If science has proven that being homosexual is a gene or chemical, and cannot be changed, what would you say?

The only problem with that statemenet is you can relate most all "bad" behaviors to a gene. 'Doesn't make it right.

Murder - gee, it not my fault...its in my genes
Alchoholic - hey, gotta give me my rights...its in my genes
ADHD - need a law for my special needs...its in my genes

So deal with the cards you were delt and get on with life. Wanna play marriage? Then find a woman and get with the program.

Things that require the government's stamping don't seem like rights to me. It means they cross over to the social sphere. If they didn't, then the government has no freakin' biz interfering in what is a right and constitutes individuality. The government's only business is to make sure one's right is not interfered with. In this case, the government does the marriage stamping, so it definitely doesn't sound like a right to me. It's a privilege . . . it would seem.

Couldnt it be considered part of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Thats straight from the Dec. of Independance.

That being said, I think that gay marriages are wierd and kinda disgusting, but if it makes them happy and doesn't affect me in any way, then the more power to them. Not quite sure how I feel yet about gay couples having children....

The idea of gay marriages is repulsive.

Yeah I know. You only want equality when it benefits you. Not suprised.

This not about equality, moron. They are equal to live any way they want, but life has dealt them certain cards they should have to live with.

Well, the same could be said about you Classy. From now on I want you to stop playing the race card. You get to say you were dealt certain cards you have to live with.

Of course I would. Doesn't affect me, I'm not the one getting married. If two guys or girls love each other and want to get married, so be it. No need to bring some religious horsesh1t into this. Separation of church and state.

its like asking a kkk member if he accepts classy's marriage to a white woman. who the f*ck cares:p

it doesn't really affect others, so why waste time and effort. well if you don't count the raging hate in certain individuals... your free to hate in this country as long as you don't screw with other people. its all about liberty.

The way I see it is this:

"Marriage" is a religious union between a man and a woman. A marriage gets recognised by the church as a marriage. The Government then recognises the joining of these people as a "Civil Union".

I believe that if a same-sex couple wishes to be recognized as a married couple, then that is fine. You can get married by anyone who has a marriage licence and that union should be recognised by the government. However, people have no right to complain that the church wont recoginse the union. If you want a recognised marriage by the church, you must marry a member of the opposite sex.

Since I'm not gay... why would I need to accept it? Let them get married.

Do I think its morally right? No.

If I was a lesbian I would marry a girl, if I was a girl too.

I mean, if I was a girl I would be a lesbian. And I would marry a different girl that wasn't me.

Marriage today has very little to do with religion. I don't have to have a preacher or even a church and can get married. I don't care what a church thinks. They seem to like to care what others do, but when it comes out they are raping little boys they don't want anybody to have anything to do with them

The problem with gay marriage is when someone try to tie the word "Marriage and Sacred" to religion.
I am a married man, yet I do not believe in one specific religion. My wife and I are married in the eye of the US law, not specific religion. Why can't you just see marriage as a bond between 2 people that love each other and want to make it legal? If you see marriage as a sacred union between 2 people, then how about atheist? should we ban them from getting married also because they don't believe in certain religion?

LOL @ ANANDTECH. Our polls always end up a neat bell curve or 50/50 split. Unless of course the poll is about sex, then it's totally scewed. ;)

Live and let live. If a homosexual couple wants to get married, why not legally let them? It doesn't affect me any.

Absolutely. But whether or not someone "accepts" gay marriage is irrelevant. I don't give a crap whether a bunch of strangers "accepts" my marriage. I do and my husband does, and the law backs up my rights. If you know a gay couple and don't "accept" their marriage, then I suspect they wouldn't consider you to be a friend. At that point, they probably wouldn't give a crap about your opinion.

What responsible people do with thier lives is none of my business. The person is the same whether they are gay, straight, married or single.
