No, only way to learn is by telling people have done something wrong.
Since 99% it's not flaiming it's ok.

exactly

Yes. It's ridiculous to expect people to see something that was posted a week ago the thread has died. It's also ridiculous to have to read though threads with 50+ posts to keep up with something.
You'd think some of these idiots are paying for the bandwith themselves.

Its what the search funciton is for... and if people used better thread titles it would make things even easier.

But then when a person searches for a thread and replies then they get accused of the littering the board with dead posts. Its a no win situation.

I think repost Nazis are a hell of a lot less useful than grammar and spelling Nazis.

I don't care how many times something is reposted, as long as all of it is readable.

But, what is the content of the reply? If it's just a bump or a TTT, then no new info has been added. That is what I consider a dead post.

Similarly, the reason people point out reposts is because the new thread hasn't added anything new and they're simply letting the OP know that it has been discussed. The OP should then read the original thread. If he has something useful to add, he should just add it to that thread.

E.g. if I just found a great new site called jibjab.com, should I not be informed when I start a new thread on it? If someone simply posts "Repost" or R, how is that so bad that you called the person a repost nazi? If the person insults the OP, then I understand. However, most don't IMHO.

I will say that stating Repost without a link to the original thread is useless.

So, I agree that it's a necessary evil.

A similar argument can be made for Wrong Forum "nazis".

I haven't seen many grammar nazis, so I can't comment.

Yep...it is obvious they have no lives and are rather unimportant in the real world so they create an artificial importance here. Funny thing is that in order to have seen every thread ever posted here to know it is a "repost" one has to be an incredible loser.

Its nice people keep tabs on whats posted and try to direct conversation of that topic to a singular thread. Just wish some times they were more polite about it.

No, how else are stupid n00bs going to learn how to use the search feature or that there are appropriate forums for their video card issues or political rantings.

Edit-They might even learn how to spell big words like ridiculous and the.

It's not that they like to be annoyed to hell with stupid complaints of reposts, etc. It's that they're annoyed to hell with fvcking dumbasses that can't post in the correct forum or use the fvcking search function. Well, now that the search function is absolutely FUBAR, reposts don't really get to me. I keep forgetting it's broken until I go to use it and realize that I'd rather NOT post something at all than go through the trouble to figure out how the fvcking hell to search, then not find what I want, then post it, and get "repost!" from those who've already seen the thread.

However, the reason the other forums exist is to funnel traffic of specific nature to them, dividing the subjects into organized catagories. This accomplishes several things such as, but not limited to, people being able to more quickly answer your question because they can actually see your thread without it getting buried by the loads of other threads that are totally unrelated in one giant forum. If you have separated catagories, the people who are interested in, say, networking can go into networking and see nothing but networking threads where they can contribute questions, answers, and various other networking talk. If we had just one huge single forum, everybody's threads would be buried to page 2 before the forum even reloaded after they initially posted a new thread. Post in the correct thread where the subject matter that you're posting about is concentrated and you'll get better responses and get them faster. The reason those forums don't move as fast is that so few people actually post the on-topic material in the threads where they belong!

Think about it this way. You have a 60,000 sq.ft. warehouse of computer parts. You have a section of that warehous dedicated videocards only, another one for CPUs only, another one for mobo's only, another one for HDDs only, etc. If someone runs a new videocard that's just been inventoried and now needs to be put on the shelf, do you throw it in with the HDDs hoping a customer who's looking for videocards will look through the HDD section to find it?

Obviously not.

If you want to get a question answered quickly, respect the fact that these forums have been split up for a reason, and post in the correct forum. This thread belongs in Forum Issues, by the way.

Postcount padding in its most annoying form. There are usually at least 5 or 6 people to scream repost even when the first reply is someone saying "repost" or that stupid R bullschit.

wrong forum posts / reposts are annoying. However, one person posting it is enough. In reposts the R E P ... is not needed. A single post with the original thread link is enough.
