Old Navy.

They have wonderfully designed clothes, but damn, do they suck constructionally.

I've had several pairs of their pants(the coolest pants I've had) get holes right in the crotch and a pair of shorts get (big) holes in the pockets.
I would just stick to The Gap and Bannana Republic, but one has to get tired of plain khakis eventually and no way in HELL will I wear Abercromie and Fitch.

Old Navy may be cheap, but I haven't purchased anything from them that will survive three wash cycles. Their clothes would have to be like $3/pair of jeans to be cost effective. Their polos freaking suck too.

I'd MUCH rather spend more and buy something that won't come out of the wash completely distorted.

urban outfitters isn't a name brand. they sell all sorts of different brands but they don't have their own clothing line or anything.

old navy is not a quality name brand
neither is gap, but, for the dollar, gap clothing is shoddy. wayyyy back when, during my teen years, i worked there and so i had a ton of their clothing (mostly because they were mandatory wear)... it was alll poor in durability.. esp denim

SAme here.. I dont know what kind crap construction makes holes in the crotch. Ive had about 4 pairs of jeans from old nave and all got a hole in the crotch after a couple months of wearing.

I can't believe how much they charge for so little clothing these days. Tiny little shirts that can't be worth more than 50 cents worth of cloth and labor they charge $40+ for. Absolute crap, which is why I stick to no-name brands, Walmart and the like.

American Eagle and A&F produce some good quality clothing, I'll say, though I don't usually buy their clothing. I've found Old Navy and the Gap to be the lowest quality.

Oh, and Costco-brand (Kirkland Signature) clothing FTW. :D

Calvin Klein quality depends on the country you're in. It might be pretty sh1t in the USA, in Italy the quality of their knits & jeans is actually pretty decent. Basically the American public doesn't know how to dress, or how to determine quality in clothing, so good ol' Kalvin gives you guys the quality you so richly deserve :)

Armani jeans range is pretty crappy, tho. (not the jeans, the knits, ts, etc.)

out of those of course old navy's the worst, but i hate Express clothing. Nothing I've had from them is all that great after a few wears, and usually fits weird/stupid/just feels not right. GAP is kinda like that too, Banana Republic not really (only their "made for clearance" stuff). Out of most brands I've worn Ben Sherman is pretty durable/fits well, and DKNY isn't too bad either. Lacoste is the new A&F.

Oh and American Eagle is worse than A&F too... their clothes are like $10 cheaper on everything and it's like they paid $10 less (Abercrombie pays $12 for a shirt, American Eagle pays $2, Abercrombie pays $20 for a pair of jeans, American Eagle pays $10). It might be just me but my American Eagle clothes feel like they're between sizes (either too big or too small).

Nope. You're more than welcome to pay what you want to look how you want.

I buy what I want because I think paying over $20 for any clothing item other than shoes is stupid... it's not like you have the option of just not wearing clothes.

i have no idea where all this hostility to Old Navy comes from. All my jeans except 2 are from there. The first pairs I bought in late 2001 are just being phased out now, due to me getting fatter. They have no holes or rips/tears. Just faded out because of high usage. $20 for a pair of pants to last (at least) over 4 years is fine by me.

I'll add more as I get them.

I'd agree, I'd guess walmart clothes would hold up better.

I have found Nautica to be the best quality after owning most the the brands on that list. Their jeans and shirts are excellent.

Old Navy is so-so and only get their stuff from the clearance store for rock bottom prices.

FYI its Old Navy -> Gap -> Banana Republic in that order of quality and price, those brands are owned by the same company.
