POLL: Worst act of boneheaded driving

I've only had a license for 8 months, and in that time I have seen people do things I just can't believe. The options in the poll are those offences I have witnessed that stick out in my mind the most. Vote for what you think is the worst. If you've seen something even worse, post it and I'll add it to the poll.

You've only had a license for 8 months.

Check back in a year or two. You will be doing nearly 75% of that stuff you have in your poll.

thats the worst part. when i just realize "oh crap, i forgot to signal" now im that asshole.

i have to say, everything on your poll pisses me off but i think the drunk driving is the most dangerous. the others, while semi careless and usually selfish tend to produce simple avoidable accidents so long as someone around is paying attention. drunk driving is much more serious.

"Moving into the right lane while you're tying to merge" or even turning into that lane just before cars make their rights into it from side streets is the 2nd DUMBEST act I've seen. It's not about skill... it's about anticipation. Fuggin hello ? You're bound to have to brake, so why do it ?! IDIOTS.

The absolute worst is the highbeams when approaching you. Everytime I see someone do it on the opposite side of me, I feel like swerving right into their oncoming path - CAN YOU SEE ME NOW ?! Mother b!tches... you see that blue light next to your turn signals on the dash ? It means something's not normal... you have your damned high beams on. Either that or you aimed the low beams too high and it's distracting other drivers. I should pop my off-road lamps on and teach them a lesson... so tempted.

Well, driving while drunk or high is obviously #1. I'd put running red lights/stop signs at #2. Both of those involve great potential to cause bodily harm or fatalities.

And people who do that also like to tailgate which leads me to do the 35 in a 70 or what ever speed to ensure they can't pass.

Drunk drivers really tick me off however that one won't get my vote since you included talking on a cell phone in that same option. I guess I'd have to go with 35 in a 70. That's obnoxious.

If they were tailgaiting, you wouldn't be able to see the high-beams in your rear-view mirror.

Agreed - a skilled defensive driver can get around most of the other hazards on this poll. I've long considered putting LOTS of accessory lighting on my Vandura for the use that you just described - blinding hi-beam morons. I already have orange visibility lights running along my rain channels to make sure the no-headlight morons can see the thing, but 8-10 offroad and grille lamps would be nice to be able to flip on when they go shining their crap in my eyes.

Personally I believe that failure to yield the right of way when safe to do so is the worst since it ends up leading to many of the other acts in your poll. One pinhead camping the left lane provokes weaving, moving right to pass etc.

DUI is obvious, so after that I'd say either driving down a one way street the wrong way or tailgating. I voted tailgating, because nobody drives down a one way street deliberately, but people do tailgate deliberately, and I believe it's the cause of the majority of highway accidents.

id have to agree there... while i dont think necessarily driving while tired/on cell should be in the same category as driving intoxicated.. which is why i didnt vote for that one straight out.. I voted for running redlights/stop signs

You don't even have to start polls.

I concur. The other ones (except wrong-way on a one-way) all pale by comparision.

i have to laugh that you people think driving drunk is worse than driving the WRONG WAY on a one way street. i mean, they're both really bad, but come on, use some sense here.

and driving high is really not that bad and shouldn't be in the same option with driving drunk or even talking on a cell phone.
