I have used both.

If you are into playing VCDs and such stick with WinDVD. It will play them just like they are DVDs. I know that with the PowerDVD version I had that I needed to switch to file mode, select the mpg file off the VCD and then play it.

Besides that both programs are pretty much the same. Just use which ever and it wont make much of a difference.

any one better in the area of SVCD? For some reason WINDVD is kinda jerky with SVCD but perfectly find on the dvd player. 1.13Ghz/256 ram, is that enough? tia!

Only thing I like better on PowerDVD is the varying speeds of fast forwarding and fast reversing. But that's not enough to get me to use it regularly, even though I have them both installed.

I've used PowerDVD for a long time now, and even tho I got WinDVD with some purchase, I'm too lazy to try it out. :)

I like PowerDVD more. Probably because I've used it longer. Video and Audio are essentially the same for both programs IMO.

Leadtek's version of WinDVD plays better, and has a far better interface then the poor one found on PowerDVD

windvd 3 is kewl because it has basically every feature including 1.5 -2x playback with normalized sound:) great for getting through a dvd in a rush or if your impatient.. commentary tracks fly by hehe. that or ssome special features.

powerdvd 4.. i only use it for its always on top feature, and capture fullscreen res feature.

windvd4, i havn't tried it, suppose it would be superior to 3.

My PowerDVD doesn't work for some reason. I get some error, but I never looked into it yet.

Obviously, people who have not used both programs are voting.

The audio is much, much better in windvd. Powerdvd has many different fast forward/rewind speeds, and this is the only feature is has that windvd does not have.

If you have powerdvd, turn up the volume and you will hear a strange mechanical sounding distortion.

Windvd=perfect dvd software, except it doesn't have the nice fast forward/rewind features.
PowerDvd=ok dvd software because the audio Sucks.
