I just recently installed windows 2000 service pack 2 and I think instead of making new improvements to service pack 1, it added new bugs. My computer shuts itself down instead of waking up when I go to standby mode. There are certain games I can no longer play under SP2 such as Rainbow 6 Covert Ops and numerous other games. Feel free to express your frustration with service pack 2.

The only thing SP2 did for me was fix a ton of bugs and make my computer run faster. SP2 is Great, should be the #1 download for everyone who has Win2k.

Win2K SP3 will be even better, it'll replace your woman AND your car! Thanks Microsoft!

Sorry to hear about your problems, but SP2 was definitely a plus for my system! I'm glad I was able to download it before leaving school. 103mb off of a dial-up connection? Damn...

Sorry man, SP2 is working great for me. My system is as stable as it was before SP2. Come to think about it, I don't even know why I went to SP2...oh yeah, those 4 pages of security and bug fixes :)

Hope you get thigs sorted out.

I can't tell any physical difference, speed or otherwise... I fgure if it fixed security stuff etc.. without me taking a hit, then it's OK.

No problems so far...I've been running it since it was "official".

I had no issues with SP1 and still none with SP2. The upgrade wasn't necessary on my part but I wanted to have the latest updates. If you're having problems, just un-install SP2 assuming you let it make backup copies of your system files.

I think W2k SP3 will require you to activate the software or it will kill your OS.

Activation sucks.

Wow. I think this is absolutely amazing. You had poll in the title but no voting booth and they didn't scram to be first to say "Where's the poll?". As to SP2, I'm still not running SP1 (don't feel like downloading it over a modem right now), so I can't really comment.

I did a clean install and jumped right to SP2... I had 1 or 2 random lockups and reboots but no guarantees it had anything to do with sp2...if they put activation in sp3 I'll just be downloading the crack for it... cause its pure insane and I'd say approaching illegal.

No problems so far with it also. Although I don't notice anything different from SP1. Still a stable system.

SP2 has caused me no problems. If anything, it made MS's best OS even better!

The one thing I didn't really like about it was that it kills the ability to get rid of system file protection by setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Winlogon\SFCDisable to ffffff9d. Of course, a little hex editing fixes that right up.

MGMorden: See the little graph icon over on the right side, right below the word "Previous"? Thats the poll icon. It won't show up unless there is a poll in place.

igiveup: I switched to the compact mode when I went to a modem connection. I haven't picked it up quite yet (but there is no voting icon in this mode). And I still think the "where's the poll?" thing is stupid.
