POLL: Will You Use Turbo Tax This Year?

Remember last year all the heat Turbo Tax took for that little spyware program they installed with thier software? The CEO appoligized a few months ago about that and said it was a huge mistake to do that.

So,,,, I was wondering will you use Turbo Tax or something else this year?

I used TurboTax up until last year when I switched to TaxCut. I'm not ready to forgive them. Yes, they admitted it was a mistake - but it was a "mistake" of such proportions that it should never have happened to begin with. I have no doubt that they assumed they could do whatever they want and people would put up with it, as that's been Intuit's M.O. forever. But when it turned out it was costing them money, only THEN did they say it was a mistake. Would they have changed anything if it didn't cripple their sales? Not a chance.

I'm sorry, but to intentionally have a policy that ignores whether people can retrieve their tax data in the future doesn't fall into the category of "mistake".

I'm not going back to TurboTax.

Are any of these programs downloadable from the software company who makes them? I mean, this is a one time use thing, I really don't need a pretty CD with a pretty box laying around here... I'll only use it for a short time anyway.

I found em now... damn people... tryin to rape you online... $30 to download it... Office Max has it for $20 and you get Quicken Basic 2004 for free, and you get a $15 mail in rebate if you e-file.

Prior to last year, I had used TurboTax since 1991 (ChipSoft TurboTax for DOS!).

This will be my second year using Tax Cut.

TaxAct is a free download for the standard edition.

I've used TaxCut for the past 3 years.
It's always worked great for me and it's cheaper than Turbo Tax.
Plus, there are usually some free with rebate combos with things like MS Money.

I did mine with Turbo Tax over the web last year ... worked out fine. Probably how I'll do them again this year.

Although, my cousin and his wife are both CPA's ... maybe I'll have them help.

I use Turbotax, the free edition they have on their site if your poor. So far no problems in three years, I thought it was simple, even for a college student.

Wisconsin has free online tax software(do it in a web browser) on state website that allows you to do your taxes file it and have it deposited to your bank account or mailed. It also remembers previous months, very basic but perfect for me. You do have to pay a few bucks to file though.
