There is also a lot fo free advertising in this movie. A lot of product placement here. Who knows, maybe one day, when we watch a movie, it will be a bunch of advertising we will be watching. The worst of it, we pay for it too.

I hadn't planned on seeing Bond in the theater. With the holidays I have limited theater time and I would rather see Nemesis and LOTR2. With Bond, I had intended to buy the DVD, but now that I see some marketing idiot with no brain has come out with some crackpot idea to fsck the customer by having the DVD self-destruct in 36 hours, I'm not going to do that either. Why would anyone actually buy a DVD that won't last as long as a rental at Blockbuster?

Oh well, there hasn't been a good Bond since George Lazenby. Pierce Brosnan makes a halfway decent Bond, better than Hutton for sure, but the newly written storylines are much worse than the originals...

If you read the article you'll see that the DVD version that you'll buy in the stores will not self-destruct. It was only the free promotional version of some scenes which they handed out to reporters before the release of the movie that DID self-destruct.

My dad's coming up tonight and we're going to go to the theator and see it together, that's been our tradition for many bond films now :)

Oh, and the self-destructing DVDs were only for reviewers and the press. When it comes out, you'll be able to watch it as much as you want.

A lot of reviews are spoiling a semi-big event in the beginning of the movie, so if you don't want the movie ruined, avoid them. I was going to not read any until I saw the movie, but I sync Yahoo on my PDA and they had an article about Halle Berry being good in the role so I was reading it, not expecting any spoiler material. For no apparent reason half way through the article, they switched from talking about Halle Berry to going into a detailed plot summary. So I already know what happens in about the first half of the movie :(

So how long until we start seeing these coasters on eBay? :D

Good old DVD-ripping. That'll preserve that content forevermore. :)
