Widescreen!

I always joke with my rounder-eyes friends (i.e. - non-asian): We get the full widecreen view while you round-eyed devils get the short end of the stick, the Pan&Scan view . . .. :p:p:p

pan scan is garbage, it should be illegal and all the people who like it should be arrested.

the poll is misleading because a widscreen dvd played on a widescreen tv would be full screen.

That's why I put (Pan&Scan) after Fullscreen in the title.

See? That's the pan&scan view effectively cutting off the extra 3" all asians carry! It's not our fault that you can't see how ridiculously HUGE we are! ;)

Definitely widescreen. My Coworker thinks Fullscreen is so much better because he thinks you see more picture than you do with a widescreen. He has a thick head and no way to convince this man that widescreen is better.

He's white, isn't he? He's trying to convince himself that he's not being cheated and going so far as to believe that we asians . . . uhm . . . are men of lesser stature, which is plainly not true!

I <3 wide screen. I bought Undercover Previously viewed today at Blockbuster and it was the Full Screen disc in the WS holder, i'm going to kick some rookie beyotch ass tomorrow.

But I did get a nice minty Phone Booth for 11.99 :D

OAR if its available. I use to be a OAR or nothing Nazi in the past but have since changed my stance on the issue. I am not going make my self suffer by avoiding a great movie just because the Studio f@cked it up and released it Pan and Scam only.

I can't stand watching movies in Pan&Scam, even if it's on a small 4:3 TV, I'd take OAR and/or 16:9 any day :)

Cause more and more shows are being broadcast in the widescreen format.

I buy all of my movies in widescreen format, if possible, so I've got them for the future when I pick up a widescreen TV. I have no qualms about getting the fullscreen if they're out though.

Widescreen of course.

Why would I want to see only a fraction of the full movie picture?

I've kicked many a register jockey's ass for handing me the fullscreen version of a video.

If you're gonna cut out 43% of the film, you better cut the price the same.

I'm all in favor of OAR, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if more and more directors were composing their shots for minimal information loss after pan and scan has been applied.

OAR or nothing. I don't care if the director composed the shot so that theres "minimal information loss", there's still information loss, and when I watch a movie, I want to see all of it :)

Widescreen is ok on my laptop when im sitting 2 feet from the screen, but when watching the TV from across the room widescreen is annoying. When i buy a 25 inch TV i want to see 25 inches of TV not black bars on the top and bottom just so i can see the extras picking thier nose outside center screen.

Isn't the original point of widescreen so that you could have a wider theater and fit more people in? I doubt it was used for the purpose of having interesting things happen in the margins.

The original purpose of widescreen was to differentiate movies from the TV that was stealing its crowds.
