POLL: Why do you mod your case?

None of those choices fit my reason so I'll just write it down. I am a smoker and I have seen what beige cases look like after being around a smoker. Plus, a good project always keeps me out of trouble.

I mod for several reasons: first to optimize airflow and cooling. Second to make the case look snazzier and stand out. Beige is such a boring color, and a bright orange case with chrome grills all over it has a look all of its own. Third: I just like to constanty optimize and tweak my systems.

Ummm, for none of the above. I modded for performance, to help with the oc'n, I also did it in a way that helps with the looks. And most of the modding cost me very little to boot--fans, ducts, etc.

I don't mod anymore. It was just a painful reminder that I have no friend's out here in the booneies to look at my work ( though my nieghbor decided to put a plexiglass window in his cow barn, so ya could see how beautiful his candy apple, metalic painted cows looked under is cold cathode blue lighting), and that my wife just dosn't understand me. "Oh I guess that's nice" shrugs and walks away.:(

Because it's there! I say we ban Jerboy for even asking such a thing!!!

;)
j/k

Cause it's there? It's overclocked, and needs better cooling. I'm considering a case window and lighting - considering.

I do it cuz I'm bored and it's just sitting there all plain and in it's stock form, and I just can't stand it like that..

You can't find a computer that fits your character, so you modify it. :p Good airflow is one of the other top reasons. I don't know about the "cute" thing. I just want mine to look like it's run on radioactive material. :D

1) makes it look soooooo awesome! i mean, a paintjob, blowholes, chrome grills, baybus, chrome handles make the case look amazing
2) improved airflow

modding a computer can be paralled with modding a car. what are the two main reasons why people mod cars?

1) performance
2) looks

that's exactly why most of us mod our computers/cases :D

The only mod I've done on my current machine is paint the drive facias so they don't look pig ugly in my Lian Li case!

PICS

On my old machine, I cut a blowhole for an 80mm fan in the side panel because the Athlon was running pretty hot.

cause i wanted something i could not buy. and my friend was bored, so we needed a project to do. my latest plexi only cost me what, $60 cause we had a lot of stuff lying around from the other two he has done.. hehe. And that's only cause i had to buy a set of bits (which in the end, could not use.. grr).
