I wouldn't call Terminator, T2, and Predator predictable or dumb, typical action flicks.

 
I'll go with Diesel all the way... the rock is the one who cant act, Vin's got some quality skill... just gets thrown in crap movies. Plus his voice is quite cool...
 
Every role I've seen Vin in has been very believable - whether the movie itself was good or not. That leads me to believe he is a damn good actor and can play numerous roles. After watching The Rock in Scorpion King - I don't think he can act to save his life. The only thing The Rock can do is toy with his eyebrow and yell a lot in a ring.

This leads me to believe:
The Rock = Earlier Arnold
Vin = Later Arnold

Vin can do the roles that require more acting but The Rock makes a better barbarian (literally).

Neither is an exact replacement for Arnold, though.
 
Vin Diesel. he has the persona to be a bad ass as well as a good guy unlike the rock. he has that Mean looking face if he needs it


 
Vin definately. The Rock is cool, but Vin has the attitude that would make him perfect for a replacement for the Large One. 😀
