Where's the option for neither? In my experience, the most intelligent people are disinclined to identify with political parties which are almost always hypocritical in action and ideas.
 
Also in this poll you'll probably get more votes for Republican, as they seem to think very highly of themselves, while many Democrats are more critical of their party, some of this due to the current term of Bush III.
 
Something about the whole group of Dems and Repubs:

The government today, announced that it's changing it's emblem from a Bald Eagle to a CONDOM, because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a sense of security while you're being screwed.
 
The republicans have a childish tactic that works. Act crazy, throw a fit and demand the universe until everyone in the opposing party gives up and they end up ahead. Ask for a dollar using the tantrum way when all you need is 10 cents and chances are you'll end up with 90 cents.
 
stupid thread, but if I had to throw some wood on the fire, you find that the parts of the country with the most educated populations, generally containing several excellent universities, tend to vote democratic...

I do not disagree with that at all.

just saying, if you had to quantify it, the numbers are there. the "highest educated" populations in the country almost exclusively vote democratic.

...that says nothing of common sense, intelligence, whatever...

I mean, if it weren't true, then republicans wouldn't be so darn afraid of them gosh-darned "academics" with their books and their "learnin'" and throw around the word "elitist" so damn often.

and all that bothersome sciencey stuff.
