Ah, Bono can (and does) make fun of himself and the whole ridiculously stupid rock-star thing, all the while trying to do some good on the side.

Oasis is a couple of self-important jerks that make music like they're electrocuted camels.

Lulz there's no comparison. Smashing Pumpkins are still making good music (aside from Corgan's voice) and Oasis is still absolutely pretentious, lame, etc. It's not pretentious if the skills can back it up.

When I hear their names I don't think pretentious or aragant, I just think an indifferent "meh."

For pretentious ... I think perhaps Rush sorta fits the bill ....

Oasis sucks

Oasis has at least two great albums in Morning Glory and Defintely Maybe. I even like Dig Out Your Soul even if it didn't sell as well as their first two (though still sold 4.5 million).

And they act like rockers SHOULD act. I'll take rowdy hooligans who drink and smoke and fight and tell everyone how awesome they are over whiny emo pansies like Corgan any day of the week.
