The rules wouldn't matter. NBA players are paid to play basketball. It's their job. It is what they do all year. Only a small percentage of players from the NCAA make it to the pros.

I think NCAA players play with more heart, to some NBA players it's just a job after a while.

It is "clever" (read: not clever) to put the NCAA champion above the cellar dwellers in the NBA. In reality, the NBA team would easily win.

About once or maybe twice per decade a scenario occurs where there's an exceptionally good NCAA team and an exceptionally poor NBA team the same year. In 1996, the Kentucky Wildcats had an amazingly athletic team (they scored 86 points in the first half against LSU). 9 players from that team went on to play in the NBA. That same year, the Dallas Mavericks absolutely stunk. That team might have been able to beat Dallas on a one-game playoff. But I suspect in a 3- or 5-game series, Dallas would probably still come out on top.

UNC had a good team in 1992 (or 1993?) that could have given a bottom-tier NBA team a scare, too.

Also, the format that these teams play under is highly important to the discussion.

Just recall the defeat of the recent NBA dream team at the olympics to exemplify the effects of bad team work and change of format.

if anything the past Olympics (and NBA Finals: Pistons vs. Lakers) has taught us, is that a team playing with great teamwork can beat out individual talent.

That wouldn't really be the case here. The Olympic team was composed of only one type of player, slashers/drivers (plus Tim Duncan). One would drive and kick it out, but who he passed it to could only try to drive, and then have to kick it out again, etc. No NBA team has that problem, they all have some shooters. The Hawks would blow out UNC/Illinois/Wake. Most of the college guys wouldn't even be able to get open to take a shot.

That said, as it was previously asked, the 12 best college players easily beat the 12 worst NBA players. Not even a contest. That's why they will be high draft picks and take those the worst players' roster spots this summer

Also, a good high school team would be able to beat a team in the WNBA. Not because they can necessarily shoot or dribble better, but because a good high school team will be much stronger and more athletic.

The Hawks are BAD......

Tyrone Lue just scored 25+ points 2-games in a row. He's averaging 13ppg
Childress is averaging 9ppg in 26minutes of play
Obinna is averaging 5ppg and 4rpg in 17minutes of play

The Hawks may be a weak NBA team, but they are more talented and helluva lot more mature and stronger than there NCAA counterparts. Defense in the pros is by far better than the NCAA's.
