BTW I recommend checking out holmes on homes on hgtv. It's like extreme makeover but without the self-serving feel good cheese so thick you need a barf bag, plus you actually see the details of how they do things; you'll pick up some specific building approaches instead of just design approaches.

it's the best show on hgtv but that's not saying much. and of course it's only on at like 9 am on saturday morning when i'm not watching tv. the annoying thing about it is they show you how the previous contractor f-ed the thing up, and then they show you very little of the rebuild and skip to the veneer. hai gais, you talk about how you're going to do it right so why not spend more than 2 minutes showing us doing it right instead of the 10 minutes impressing the wife with the granite tile?
