Let's say that you have a married couple and the husband takes out a loan on the car. Technically the bank owns it, but between the husband and wife, which of those two could say that they "own the car". One of them owns it more - remember the loan and registration are in the husband's name.

In Texas, it's community property thanks to the Spanish property laws we have adopted. So in a legal dispute, both parties have claim to it.

If the loan and registration are in the husband's name, then technically he "owns" it.

Both of our vehicles are in my name but I say we both own them. It's both of our money that pays for them, doesn't matter who's name is on the loan. IMHO.

BTW, I didn't vote. Need an option for "both own them"

He should also state the following:

When he goes out in the morning to go to work and both cars are parked there, he takes the SENTRA.

When I go out in the morning to go to work and both cars are parked there, I take the MAXIMA.

On average, I drive the MAXIMA more than he does. When we go places together, more often than not, he will want to take the SENTRA for whatever reason....

TECHNICALLY: He owns both cars....however, really, I own the Maxima. :)

AND:
Right now, who is bringing home more money? Hmmmmm? MrsSkoorb!

Still looking for a answer on who makes the payments....

Legally I would say HE owns it, ethically though IMO the one who makes the payments owns it.

Um, I don't recall you breaking out the check book ONCE for this car. Also since I'm billing right now I'M making more money. AND although you take it to work I've put more miles on the car than you, since whenever we go out together in the Maxima I drive. That's because I'm the man.

I think your husband is starting to take on paranoid tendancies. Dump him now - before it gets any worse. ;)

- Oh, let him keep the new Nissan - it has already depreciated to a point that is lower than the current loan balance. You should be able to find a suitable used vehicle once Mr. Skoorb is out of your life.
