If rumors are to be believed it launches this year. Personally what I really want is GTX 1080 Ti.

Can't say I'm interested in the new Titan. Depending on what AMD brings with Vega, though, I can't wait to see the 1080 Ti. I just grabbed a 1070, but what can I say? I love buying new toys, but the Titan just seems like a waste for me. I'm sure it'll be a total beast though.

I have no interest in Titans. They're for people with money to burn and NV fans. I'm not interested in any GPU that hasn't even a modicum of perf/$.

The AMD fan in me also cannot stomach spending money on a funders founders reference NV card at this point. Not until I can get one for (the real) MSRP, or in the case of the Titan (though I don't really want a GP104 chip), what the card is worth.

The only good thing that comes from a new Titan is the 1080ti soon after.

Exactly. I want the best single card for gaming since I don't want to deal with CF / SLI, but it offends my "thrifty" nature too much to ever buy a Titan. So I made do with a 680ti and then 980ti.

Zero interest in throwing away my money into the tippy top of the consumer vanishing returns ladder.

After a couple of decades buying computer components I've realized I'm much happier buying multiple high end products, and a nice range of products, for a similar outlay. And if you were going to buy into the tippy-top range, you blow your $ on headphones or something which stay tippy top for years and years. TBH even if you consider yourself a "money is no object" type person, I think you're eventually gonna realize there are plenty of wonderful things money can be exchanged for...

Titan is a terrible perf/$ option, but if you want the best at the time it's worth getting.

Always wait for the "Ti" cut down version if bang-for-your-buck is a concern.

I hope AMD does a similar "Founders Edition" type product. The coolers on the NVIDIA Founders Edition cards are very pretty and I would like to see AMD do something similar. I recently bought an RX 480 and while the GPU itself performs quite well, I did wish that the cooler looked more premium.

Maybe with Vega?

I thought the Fury X and Nano looked pretty damn good, but even though they both had good looking and performing coolers they got poor reviews for price/perf. Yet the throttling FE cooler gets sold out. Marketing... ^_^

Titans are a huge money sink in general. They get outdone a few months later for something about half the price.

Didn't the 980Ti shame the TitanX in some games, or do i remember wrong? Same story with the previous gen Titan as well. Sure, if i was a fan/ collector, or someone who has a need for a $1000 plus card which is only good for gaming (as there are no CUDA drivers i believe), then yes, Titan is a likely buy. However, anyone with any sense, nevermind more sense than money, would buy a Ti card, or a step down Geforce and a Quadro for pro workloads. The latter is what i would recommend to those who may use graphic cards for more than occasional recode and usual gaming.

I like beautiful objects.
If you wanted a beautiful product from AMD, R9 Nano was available for quite a while. :D

Great industrial design, faster than RX 480 at roughly the same power level (from a PSU/heat perspective), premium cooler and a piece of tech history. In fact, one could argue the Nano is the spiritual ancestor of the Funder's Edition.

The reference Titans have always been garbage products with terrible coolers. The NVTTM cooler is pretty good, maybe even very good at cooling 150-165W cards. Within this TDP it's actually quieter than aftermarket cards.

The issue is when you slap the same thing on a 250W (or in the case of Titan P, what's looking like a 325W SKU) it fails miserably in acoustics and temperatures.

I would say the 1080 is actually a pretty interesting product. 30% faster than a Titan X at GTX 980 acoustics is nice.

You're way better off waiting for an aftermarket 1080 Ti then buying a Titan X, both financially and overall experience. I would say if you have either a 980 Ti or a 1080 you should skip the Titan release.

The Titan release is for people who are running CUDA or 3D rendering (and don't care about price), or have a ton of disposable income and plan to custom water cool their TPs.

The only possibility of that advice changing is if Nvidia starts increasing the gap in performance between the Titan and the cut-down SKU. (I.E. if it's more than 15%, than maybe the Titan has a selling point).

I would understand if it was the case, or something else you can see. but not something that you stick inside your case. even if you have a windowed case, you will still only see the side only.

your argument fails.

..their "prettiness" is worth the $100 subsidy?

I've only read that these coolers perform like dogs, yet you are recommending them because they look cool, even though they really offer no actual value to the real function of the object?

I thought this was a tech forum? :hmm:

Well, like it or not, 1080 outperforms any other card on the market.

Fury and nano didnt. Of course that didnt have anything to do with it. Damn those stupid consumers and nVidia marketing.

$100 premium for a worse performing cooler? Especially for 250W+ TDP cards?

No thanks.

If Titan P and 1080 Ti (or Vega) have good enough performance to entice me to upgrade in 2017, it's going to be with a good custom cooled design... or under water blocks.
