I have an Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. No real mods. I'm putting in a UUC short shifter and some european hid headlights. I plan on getting new shocks and springs to stiffen the ride up and lower the car an inch or so. I'd do some of the engine mods for the 12v engine (i have a pre '98 2.8) but i don't feel like ripping apart the engine. There is a super charger in the works for the 12v engines so i might pick one of those up if they're priced decently. I'll probably end up trading my car in next year for a S4 anyway. Nice cars though.

i have a '94 Jetta, and i've been somewhat happy/unhappy with it. first of all, it has a great engine. even at 4 cyl., it has a snappy acceleration and very solid feel to the drive. BUT, lot of little things here and there have gone wrong with it. i've put in thousands after thousands into repairs, which come at least once a year. and the mechanics charged me an arm and a leg, to do clutch and timing belt work on it. pretty much any other VW parts cost a lot, compared to domestic and Japanese.

i figure it's time for me to get a new car, but i don't know what car to buy next. i do love VW's design and the feel when i get behind the wheels, but i don't know if i want to pay high cost of repairs.

I never have considered VW parts expensive, but I guess if you live in a small town where the dealer is your only parts option, then I suppose they're expensive. Here in Tampa we have a shop called Total Performance that can get anything VW, even OEM parts, for dirt cheap.

My cars:

1974 VW Westfalia Campmobile. 1.8. Needs new carbs. Very worn out, but still runs (for sale?).

1982 Rabbit. Mods: 1.8 w/ hydro head out of a Cabriolet, Neuspeed hydro cam, Audi throttle body in ported intake (Dremel special), Eurorace Tri-Y header, 16V 210MM clutch pack, 5 speed GTi tranny (close ratio), vented rotors off of a GTi, rear discs off of a 16V, Bilsteins w/ HoR springs, Neuspeed bars (upper and lower), Autotech strut bearings, Techtonics motor mounts, Techtonics 2" Stainless exhaust w/ Dynomax muffler, Borbet 15" and Sumitomo 50 series tires.

The thing is nice but still doesn't move like I'd like, so I've got a 2.0 crossflow head/intake and the exhaust and turbo off of a Jetta TDi in the garage. Going to bolt it on, but need to figure out how to modify the ignition and injection on the car to make turbo charging this thing work. ;)

He he... I've seen that guy. He doesn't really get looks because an 84 GTi with an air damn LOOKS fast.

What throws people is when THIS GUY completely dusts you and then you see "V-O-L-K-S-W-A-G-E-N" on the tailgate. :p

This guy I used to work with had one of those classic VW minivan things......

Well he fitted the underside with a UV fluorescent tube light.
So when he drive at night there was this violet glow under the van, down on the road.....it was the coolest thing, looked like a spaceship
