I just got a 2001 GTI about a month ago. No mods on that baby. I like it just the way it is.

I have a '99 Passat GLX. The only mods on it are rims and a CD changer.

Not "exactly" a VW, but I have an Audi A4 1.8T...mods include an APR ECU upgrade, Forge/Milltek cat-back exhaust, Neuspeed Short Shifter kit and a Forge Divertor Valve. Future mods may include a turbo boost gauge, aftermarket wheels and maybe, JUST maybe APR stage III!

Toolgirl, does your GTI have the 1.8T or VR6 engine? Great ride with either powerplant! :)

Ive got a 2001 VW Passat GLX. Only Mod so far is i put in a new HU for the Stereo and the New Beetle Sunglasses Holder :).
I have to say I love my car. Only 12,000 miles on it so far but it was well worth the money.

As far as i know the GTI only comes with the vr6. I believe that if it has the 1.8 then it is a golf.

Oh, yeah, like I know that. ;)

All I know is that it's the 150 hp one, turbo-charged, all my dad's friends think he's kinda crazy for buying me the sports car in the VW family ;)

As for the Honda - we test drove one when we bought my car and both my dad and I were less than impressed. VW all the way.

Of course I'm partial to German cars though ;)

My friend owns a faded sky blue Beetle, made in the 50s-60s. Hehehe...he calls it a moving speed hump.

lol

ya I have a 96 Jetta GLX VR6.. and damn do they charge more for the VR6 engine for insurance...

Current mods include Xenon Headlight/Fog Light, Autotech Q-chip, Neuspeed P-Flo intake and a Eurotech Upper Tie bar comming my way next week.

Great car I ahve to say. I'm a about 1.3k shy from my 90k mark in that car.. Great run =) Definitely waaay more refined than any Hondas I've seen.. The Honda's interior always give me a feeling of striped bare of all the luxary stuff. Even in the high end Acura Intergra models. But VW, even an entry level Golf, are much much better dressed in the inside than any Civic or Intergras out there.

I have an '85 Golf that I recently bought (my car was stolen! ack!).

I needed something inexpensive and I had great experiences with my '86 Scirocco (8v not 16v). I drove that car for over 10 years, it ran like a champ! I really wish I would have held on to the Pirelli wheels though, they'd look nice on my current VW.

I would consider modding my car but know next to nothing about it.

I have an Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. No real mods. I'm putting in a UUC short shifter and some european hid headlights. I plan on getting new shocks and springs to stiffen the ride up and lower the car an inch or so. I'd do some of the engine mods for the 12v engine (i have a pre '98 2.8) but i don't feel like ripping apart the engine. There is a super charger in the works for the 12v engines so i might pick one of those up if they're priced decently. I'll probably end up trading my car in next year for a S4 anyway. Nice cars though.
