I didn't know what it is until I looked it up on google. It is just a phone, I thought it was something special...

I was gonna get one too but found out the lastest version still doesn't support expandable memory. Got a E815 instead.

I have one... it has good reception without an external antenna as well as nice aesthetics. All I really care for in a phone.

Why is it so popular?

its overhyped just like the ipod, thats why its so popular. its the thing to have if you're "cool" or somehow is supposed to make you cool if you have one.

to me its another overpriced, overpriced piece of crap.

Yea I have one too. Nothing special really, just small and looks cool. Anymore, I just want a phone that will make calls consistantly, and quit dropping them all the time, but that could just be cingular

I never understood why a product being overhyped was a bad thing. Who cares if it's popular? For as many people who buy it because they think they are cool, there are just as many people who don't buy it for that reason. You're not on the right side of the track, my friend, you're standing right on it like everyone else.

I'm thinking of getting the newly released Verizon version. I think I can get one for $99 using my New Every Two (years) discount. I'm still going to wait a little while though. Trying to save my cash until I'm done buying my house.

Could be--just look at the latest Consumer reports. Lots of trouble for Cingular. That's not surprising given the AT&T merger amidst the already complex TDMA to GSM changeover.

Yea I had Verizon before Cingular and it was by for the best service I've had. My fiance talked me into going on her Cingular plan to save money, which it did, but sometimes its just not worth the crappy service for rollover minutes.

I've got a black one.
Good signal reception (that's the main reason I chose it).
Bluetooth is just OK, connection drops occationally.
The OS sucks big time and it's slow to respond (I'd prefer LG or Nokia OS and GUI).
It's razor thin, but the width is big. I'd like it better if it's narrower but a little bit thicker.

My wife and I both have one. My wife agrees when I say it is the best phone I have ever owned. We got them last year and have had zero problems with them. Excellent reception and battery life.
