Companies or the government? Just a simple poll.

Does not compute. Government is owned by companies. Paradox initiated. Self destruct imminent.

Neither one...they'll both fuck you every chance they get...in fact, the government will fuck you for the companies...just because they can.

Neither, but if I had to pick one, I'd say companies. Some more than others. Government and companies are pretty much in bed with each other though. Government sucks company's cocks while companies tell government what they want.

Any information you give a company will most likely also get into government's hands regardless of if that company can be trusted or not, as the government can just force that company to hand the info over.

Some government I trust a lot, some not at all.

Companies are more consistent, with less variance, some good some not.

I trust good government most of all, and bad government least of all.

We haven't really had 'good government' since Carter or JFK, and that had problems.

Depends heavily on which company and which government. The current US government may not be great, but I'd trust it way more than the music industry or a Republican-led government. Which in turn I'd trust more than Apple (which has about the same level of trust as Al Qaida or the current Israeli government).

I trust corporations in the sense that I know what their goal is, it is to make as much money as possible. If that can be done by screwing me or anyone else, they'll do it. So I don't trust them to have my best interest at heart, I trust them to do what they all do, make as much money as possible.

I don't trust government at all.

I trust that the government wants power (which companies have) and that companies want money (which government has) and that they will both screw us over as hard as they can to get what they want.

I trust neither. If you're talking about which is more dangerous than government in a landslide. Companies are pretty straightforward - they want your money. And if you're broke they'll leave you alone because you're of no further use to them.

Not so with government. Not content with just siphoning your wallet, they want to be involved in multiple facets of your life. In the name of altruistism they'll work tirelessly to make you into what they think is a better person, seeking to change what you eat/drink, how you think, who you hang out with, ad nauseum. Plus, the more you resist them the tighther they'll cling to you, like some insane stalker ex-girlfriend. Push them away too hard and they'll go all Fatal Attraction on you, burning your shit down like they did in Waco.

I definitely trust neither, but is there any doubt whatsoever that government is much more dangerous?

At least with a corporation you can choose to support them or not, and you sometimes have recourse when they do bad things. With government you have no options, no recourse, you're simply a slave to the whims of the government.

What kind of dumb-ass fuck poll question is this? Some parts of the government you can trust, some you cannot. Some companies you can trust, some you cannot.

Any of you own a car? Did you build it yourself? Did you inspect every inch of the car inside and out before purchasing? Well then you placed your entire life in the hands of the auto-maker, trusting them to build safe vehicles.

Hence, quick example shows poll question is stupid.

Ever flown on an airplane? Well fuck the amount of trust you placed in both companies and the government to get you to your destination safely (let's say pre-TSA, that doesn't need to be a part of this example)...

To all of you shouting how everyone is out to fuck you over, grow up. Turn off the internet. Walk outside. Interact with other people.

Neither, but if I had to choose it'd be government in a heartbeat. At least their purpose is good, even if they seldom live up to the ideals. Corporations are corrupt and evil at their very core.

Well said.

Also well said, and this in a nutshell is why I didn't vote. I don't think I could offer an answer which is no so simplistic as to be worthless.

Poll is very simplistic, but I voted companies, if for no other reason than I love my employer.

You might be able to make purchases from another company, but we are stuck with government and taxes.

Which do you trust more with your child: hungry cougars or rabid wolverines?
