Gary Jules, didn't know much about Gears of War before but after watching that commercial - I went out & bought it the next day.

I first heard either version in the Donnie Darko film. After watching the film, I got the soundtrack, and that was my introduction to the original version.

Gears of War = RTS? I don't play games.

Some Xbox game that became a crappy PC port about a year or two later. You didn't miss anything, don't worry.

It's won numerous awards, it's a pretty good game.

This is one case where a more sober mind was required to perfect a creatively genius song.

I listened to both, and upon waking up after listening to Jules' version, I voted for TFF.

Yeah for the Xbox, which means nothing.

Exactly. Winning an award for best FPS on a console is like winning the award for best sports car in Japan; sure, it's something, but if you take Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, Aston Martin, Viper, etc., out of the running, who the hell really cares?

I would go for Teas for Fears. To begin with I am a big fan of Tears for Fears, and secondly I am typically not a huge fan of people do covers of songs. Yes, there are many covers I enjoy, but I still typically give preference to the original artist.

Likewise in this case I like the Gary Jules version, but it feels a bit too . . . I dunno, maybe emo is the word. It is if Jules is straining to be slow, dramatics, and to sound "deep."

As an avid PC & Console gamer, I would say it was still one of the better games in the past 2 years.
