I've always liked HP inkjet over Canon bubblejet. Maybe I'm just biased.

If you just need a fast, cheap inkjet, the Canon S330 might suit you fine. But the Epson C60 offers better image quality for less.

The good: Lightning-fast prints; low overall cost; includes lots of extra software.

The bad: Creates low-quality text and color prints; only USB compatible.

With its bland exterior, Canon's new low-cost inkjet, the S330, won't win any beauty contests. And, alas, this printer doesn't fare much better under the hood. Although the S330 prints at lightning speeds, it sacrifices print quality along the way; this printer's output looks jagged and unclear. True, the S330's sub-$100 price tag is enticing. But sometimes, cheap means, well, cheap. If you want your printouts to look professional, you'll find much better quality from the less expensive Epson Stylus C60 or the pricier HP Deskjet 5550.

I would get the HP, if for no other reason than the Canon only has USB support.

I support printers for a living, & one of our printers supports both USB and parallel. Getting (and worse, keeping) USB printing working in anything other than XP is a serious PITA, whereas parallel is simple, stable, and even faster (ecp parallel > USB).

We already have an HP OfficeJet v40 4-in-1 and my Brother HL-1240 laser printer so we're covered for years to come.

USB printers + XP = Happy Ross but sad Gregg 🙁

Interesting. I have an HP 960C and it works great on USB in Win2KPro. I've never tried that printer with a parallel port.
